I sure hope Mathews is a full-go today....we need healthy defensive lineman for Xmas

Phrased that wrong. Should have put that after Tuitt comment. Green seems like the only scratch based on what I've seen online. Sucks.

Haley said something positive in last 24 hours about needing everyone onhand for the stretch and not being overly concerned about Green.

Im starting to feel (reading the quotes and the focus from the Steelers' coaches and players this week) that Jackal could be right in his assessments. What a glorious Xmas it will be if we really click on all cylinders.

You play with who you have. Eli is OK. And based on this year and past production so far DHB > Coates (unfortunately). The big hit is Green.. James is meh ok and not a real replacement for the guy. It sucks. So how about Tuitt?

Can't find an update anywhere on the inter-webs for Tuitt.

Maybe somebody can check the dark web? AJM possibly? Please advise

  8. Good lord, to read some of your belly aching over injuries, one would think this is the Steelers starting lineup . . . .

Right! I'll do you for that!!

Jim Wexell is reporting that Tuitt will be a gametime decision and that he got the impression from some of the players that they expect him to play.

I don't think any of us actually expected Green to play this week considering his history with concussions.

If neither Coates nor DHB play I think its about business as usual from the past several weeks other than the ST impact of losing another gunner and primary kick returner in Coates.

Would have been nice to have that serious deep threat but not the end of the world.

Good news is we might get to see Justin Gilbert on kickoffs so thats interesting!

  10. Did you watch the play where Tuitt injured himself? He actually wrapped his right leg under himself and bent over the knee. Ouch.

I'll be REAL surprised if you see Green again this season, unless the Steelers make the playoffs, which they will.

I don't think we see all that different of an offense with or without Coates/DHB. Haley will continue to make Bell the focal point and force the Ravens to deal with him as the initial threat. Rogers proved that you can play Bell and Brown but something has to give. The Ravens are ill-equipped to handle this revised offense, that IS NOT the same offense it was in the initial meeting.

Coates & Green both listed as Doubtful. Who knows, perhaps one if not both make it into the lineup. I'm not concerned either way.

Green has stepped up and made big plays at some key times in his short tenure. Same as Coates when healthy. Nobody to stretch field and they will be blanketing Brown and definitely focusing on Bell too....if Rivers and The Outlaw dont make plays this will be a long day on offense.

"Not practicing again on Friday and ruled out for Sunday was safety Shamarko Thomas (concussion).

Ending the week listed as doubtful for the Steelers are tight end Ladarius Green (concussion) and wide receiver Sammie Coates (hamstring). Early reports indicate that neither player will play Sunday against the Ravens, however, as both failed to practice on Friday. If Coates sits, look for rookie wide receiver Demarcus Ayers to play some against the Ravens.

Ending the week listed as questionable for the Steelers are defensive end Stephon Tuitt (knee), linebacker Anthony Chickillo (ankle), wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey (foot), and defensive end Ricardo Mathews (ankle). Heyward-Bey, who hasn?t played since Week 9, was able to practice this week. Chickillo and Mathews also practiced after both sustained ankle injuries last Sunday in Cincinnati.

As for Tuitt, who failed to practice again on Friday, his status for Sunday?s game won?t likely be determined until just before game-time. He is recovering from a sprained right knee that he suffered last Sunday. Look for the Steelers to promote a defensive end from their practice squad on Saturday and early reports hint that it might be Johnny Maxey."

Encouraging and insightful news from the Steelers Depot....

Green?s participation in yesterday?s practice likely indicates that he is in the fourth stage of the concussion protocol, which pertains to returning to football-specific activities. In this stage of the protocol, a player must demonstrate the ability to engage in all non-contact football activities without exhibiting recurring concussion symptoms.

If he practices again today, then it goes without saying that that is a strong sign of progress, though it is not a given that he would advance to the final stage of the concussion protocol, which consists of full participation in all activities?with, of course, the ability to do so without demonstrating further symptoms of a concussion.

If he practices again today, he's likely in the clear. If not, then the symptons recurred. It will be interesting to see the practice report today for both him and Coates to see if they had any setbacks.

Green and Coates's successful returns would be enormously HUGE for the playoffs.

    Ben
    Bell
    Brown
    Coates
    Rogers
    Green / James
Sprinkle in Ayers who looks impressive
    That best in class O-line

That is formidable fire power friends.

Good news about Green and Coats. I highly doubt they risk playing either guy this week even is they are good to go. The longer Green can let his brain recover the better.

The biggest thing for these two is getting practice reps without set backs so they are ready to go for the playoffs.

If Coats can go out and stretch the field it's going to open so much up for Brown and Green underneath and across the middle. If they don't play a safety over the top of Coats he and Ben can make a defense pay dearly as we saw before the hand injury.

According to the depot, Green practiced again today. Looking good to have all 3 back in time for the playoffs.

I'm trying to think of the last time the steelers were so healthy going into the post season? It's been a LONG time. They should be a very dangerous out... anxiously looking forward to the show.
