Any mention of who is interim HC?

  3. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

Not that I've seen. Should be Greggggg Williams, IMO.

^^^^^ And he was supposed to have a press conference at 2:30. Wonder if Jimmy slides into that spot to let everyone know what's up.

    YAY!!!

Being reported now that Al Saunders (71) is the interim coach. This keeps Greggggg and Todd in their respective coordinator spots.

Not so fast.... I love the turnover margin and we do need to be doing a better job of converting those into points. But, it must be mentioned that several players have made note of the fact Williams stresses the most important thing they need to focus on is getting turnovers...I think that has been detrimental to our tackling. We have a LOT of missed tackles because it looks like they are slapping at the player...if you miss the ball and the tackle that eventually turns into points as well..

Do we want to upset the one thing going positive right now by detracting Gregggg from his duties?

I know we need to develop Baker no matter what, is Haley doing that, or is someone else?

Too many questions to be able to say who would be best as interim....

I subscribe very heavily to the recent notion that you don't try to stop offenses in the NFL, you simply slow them down in the redzone (settle for field goals) and put your players in the best possible spot to generate turnovers.

Moot now, since Saunders apparently got the gig, but I'd keep Gregggg running the defense and calling plays. His son, Blake (linebackers coach) would take over the official coordinator duties.

This was my biggest reason for not elevating Haley - he needs to work closely with Baker.

Rappaport is reporting that they did have discussions between Hue and Haley this morning before deciding to let Hue go - that would seem to support Haley with Baker from a development standpoint.

    Here's the tweet...

Halsam needs to back off the search and give Dorsey 100% autonomy to select the next HC. And Dorsey should be on the phone with Lincoln Riley immediately.

Another Browns coach bites the dust following a loss to the Steelers....

    not surprising.

I think Zampese is still around...

It does make the most sense, but can he keep up at his age? I think he has been a Senior Assistant for the past several years. He has a lot of experience though, so upsetting the milk cart should not be an issue.

It almost assures there will be a head coaching search after the season, and this is a true interim position.

    So there's this...

... which bodes well. I suspect Saunders isn't a long-term solution, so as you say this would be a true interim role. It keeps stability in the organization since the coordinators get to keep their focus on their daily jobs - and from a power-struggle component, there's no 'favoritism' being shown.

I do hope we don't wait until after the season... let Dorsey get some guys lined up and interviews conducted. Should be a college guy, who I believe can be interviewed at any time, right?

Yes he is, I just didn't know who had their wing wrapped around him...whether that was Haley or Zampese, with the news as @SAS already mentioned, it obviously wasn't Hue.

I think that depends on their college contracts, but it seems like the majority of college coaching contracts have language releasing them from those contracts if they are offered NFL positions.

Congratulations, Browns fans !!! You all got your wish and Jackson is now gone.

Now that this cancer has been removed . . . We should go on a winning streak and make the playoffs, right?

    *Hard Knocks*

Hue: "What is it you used to tell me, Al? When it's your team... "

Saunders: "... you get to do whatever the hell you want."

The past five Browns' head coaches -- Romeo Crennel, Eric Mangini, Pat Shurmur, Rob Chudzinski and Mike Pettine -- were all fired after the second Steelers game of that season.

    Apparently it's tradition.
