Take shots at me but I loved Mangini . we haven't had a physical smart disciplined football team since they canned him for of all People Shurmur who couldn't motivate a fat kid to eat cake

If you are what your record says you are, Hue Jackson is the second-worst coach in NFL history.

The Browns’ loss today drops Jackson to 11-44-1 as an NFL head coach: 8-8 in Oakland and 3-36-1 in Cleveland. That’s a winning percentage of .205.

How bad is that? There have been 219 coaches in NFL history who coached at least 40 games in their career. Jackson ranks 218th in career winning percentage.

The only coach who was worse was Bert Bell, who led the Eagles to a record of 10-46-2 (.179) from 1936 to 1941. And Bell couldn’t be fired because he was also the owner of the Eagles.

Jackson doesn’t have that luxury. Soon, Jimmy Haslam is going to have to make a decision about the direction of his franchise. When your coach has won only three games and he’s in the middle of his third season, it’s past time to ask hard questions about whether you need to replace him.

I've had a change of heart.

Just fire him now. It oviously makes no difference why he has the record he has, the record is the record.

Dump his ass and give us an eight week head start to start calling for the next one's head to roll.

I understand your frustration, I absolutely do. I am sick and tired of reading about, fire him or fire someone else...There is no answer beyond the firing and starting over yet again scares me more than Hue Jackson does...However...

I also don't want to be stuck in mediocrity for another 3 years if Hue really is incompetent. We have Baker Mayfield for between 4-15 years...If he is stuck with a useless coach, he can ride out his sentence in Cleveland and eventually leave via free agency.

Hue is building a resume...in a bad way.

Last week, inadvertently throwing your coaching staff under the bus...and I sincerely think he did it unintentionally. All he said was he wasn't "going to continue to watch something that I know how to do keep being that way. That's nothing against anybody in our building. That's what I do, and I need to be a little bit more involved." This was an answer to a direct question by the media...Then had to backtrack on Monday because the MEDIA blew up that statement to make it out that Hue Jackson is tired of Todd Haley and he is taking over the offense....That rhetoric continues today, despite several comments by both parties to try and repeal the message. It's to the point of Hue Jackson wants Haley fired now to save his own job.

Now, he makes the comment "I don't even recall the situation you are referring to", when asked about leaving the 3 timeouts in his pocket before the half. STUPID answer...Pretty simple, if I am coaching a team, I am playing to get the opposing offense off the field and THEY are up against the clock. I'm not going to save them time by stopping the clock for them, using my timeouts...But, he states, he doesn't even know what he is referring to, which makes him sound incompetent, considering the situation was only a couple of hours earlier and not using timeouts when you have them at the end of the half is a pretty SIGNIFICANT part of the head coaches duties, managing the clock. If you are using your timeouts earlier in the drive, you are telling your defense, I want you to stop this drive RIGHT NOW, because you believe in your offense to go down and put some points on the board. By just standing there, being a spectator, you are telling them nothing.. They are on their own.. Do it, don't do it, it doesn't matter.

Once again, he fails to address the referees when they fuck up. When you hold them to a 4th down inside the ten yard line, ANY TIME, you need to be on the top of your game. There is a HUGE difference between 4th and 3 from the 5 and 4th and 1 from the 3... You made a decision so much easier just accepting the spot of the ball and not calling one of your 3 timeouts you had remaining to give the booth time to recall that play and put it under review. I know there isn't an opportunity to throw a red flag there, but damn it, I would rather give them a FREE first down with you arguing with them to call for a review on their own, than give them a clear choice to get 4 more points instead of just kicking the field goal. If they decide to go for it anyway, it is much easier to stop a 4th and 3 at the 5, then a 4th and 1 any where on the field. You have got to know your situations, that's why you are the head coach. This to me was the turning point in this game. The Browns were never in it again after they scored that TD right before the half.

I am ANTI-FIRING of a coaching staff in this situation, because in reality, this is his first year on the job by way of having an opportunity to actually win in the NFL. He was put into a situation of taking over a team that was tearing down the walls and starting below the foundation to rebuild. The 1-31 record means absolutely nothing to me, as it obviously does to 90% of the fanbase out there. What does mean something to me is, he has had 2 years to work on HIS CRAFT and it seems like he took a vacation in attempting to do that...or he truly believes this is how you coach a football team in the NFL. Either way, he has wasted everyone's time and I don't know if he has what it takes to learn how to do it correctly, even if given time. That is what discourages me...and why I am fine with starting over once again, if Haslem feels the same way. I DO BELIEVE Haslem has taken the chance to know the man and doesn't want to make a reflex move. If he believes in Hue, I will too. I also know many want Haslem gone, but I do not. I actually think we have an owner that cares and is willing to listen to others ideas on how to get this turned around...Most owners out there think they already have it figured out and want everyone to do it their way, and most of the time they don't have a clue.

It is extremely hard to watch this team on Sundays, because I truly believe they finally have the talent to win games and I actually think the coach is holding them back.

I am arguing with myself constantly with this dilemma, I truly don't know what to do. Continuity is real and I believe 100% we won't win until we establish that...but going on with an incompetent coach isn't ever going to establish continuity, right??

Who do you instill as the HC then? The only real option would be Greggg Williams and I think he is one of those guys like RAC was...nothing more than a good(ish) DC. Im not entirely familiar with the details of the coaching staff beyond the coordinators, but is there a position coach that is a /assistant HC a la Jeff Davidson was a while back?

Todd Haley and hopefully he would instill Ken Zampese as offensive coordinator, but continue to call plays...I hope his first move as HC would be to fire Amos Jones and hire Josh Cribbs full time to take over the Special Teams. If this year is going to be a learning year, get him the experience needed. He's about as passionate about football as they come and I think he will end up being a great coach. He has been interning since the spring and I would like to see him immediately sprung to the head of the class to get these special teams turned around.

Next, fire Bob Wylie, the man needs to retire and enjoy his life away from football. He is entertaining to watch, but I believe the game has passed him by. He's only 67, but has the mentality of an 80 year old. "We did it this way in the 70's and I still think it's the best way". In his place, talk Joe Thomas out of the booth and into a coaching shirt. He enjoys being around the game too much and he has already been on the field helping without getting paid to do so. He has talked about coaching in the past, but his easiest avenue to staying involved was in the media. I think he has a future there if he chooses, but he is another "football is my life" guy and would love to get him involved by hiring him as the offensive line coach. I think the guys that are there right now respect him and would immediately respond to him as well.

I don't trust any of the other coaches to be interim HC, that wouldn't upset the apple cart and simply shut down the season at the half way point. If that above was done, I believe we would still be in situation to be playing to win. If they struggle even more, then find a permanent HC at the end of the season and he can decide whether to keep Haley or not....if they pick up the pace significantly, then give Haley his shot, which would in turn keep the continuity going as much as possible.

Doesn't really make any difference who becomes Head Coach. The media will always include the past record in each and every piece they write or air and, unless he starts out 7-0, this fan base will find something to bitch about. Why did he bring in "so and so" as a coordinator? Why is he starting this guy instead of that guy? Its never ending.

After 3-36-1, I don't know that we need "7-0". Honestly, 0.500 might get it done.

    Just an outsiders view.

It’s all about Mayfield and his progress. Hue is done. I just can’t see how he is brought back if he isn’t fired before the end of the season. So the next move is all about who will give Baker the best chance to develop.

If the FO feels that Haley is a possible candidate then fire Hue now and let Haley have total control for the rest of the season. If the offense and Baker take off you have your guy. Let him fill out the staff the way he wants in the offseason. This would be best case scenario. Mayfield gets continuity going forward. If things stay the way they are or get worse it’s a total house cleaning at seasons end. Baker will go into next season learning a new offense. Not ideal not the end of the world.

One thing that can’t happen IMO is letting Hue take back the offense just to try and save his job. It will ruin any chance to see if Haley is the possible guy going forward.

I don’t see the need to replace any of the other coaches mid season. That will only make things more difficult.

The Browns were at 0.500 after 5 weeks of THIS season. It didn't make any difference whatsoever.

  13. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

This team was .500 and they rolled over and died against the Chargers at home. That's coaching and that's where the issues started.

  14. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

Then, by all means, they ought to wait until the bye week to can Jackson. That way they can save the new messiah from having his team roll over and die against the Chiefs and Falcons.

He can go 0.500 against the Bengals (X2), Texans, Panthers, Broncos and Ravens.

Just for perspective, I read somewhere that Bill Belichick would have to lose 1070 consecutive games to bring his win percentage lower than Hue's....

So I didn't watch his presser. Who did he blame for this week's shitshow?
