That's exactly my point. If this dude can't even show up for multiple picks and has other people who probably have forgotten more about college players than this dude even knows, make his picks for him - he should just forfeit the pick.

Oooh, interesting, I thought his arms were 31 1/2, not 33 1/2. Hmmm. He could well play LT then. I like the pick a lot more with that tackle upside.

 

You might be right. But here’s the thing. A lot of what I did with Dallas was cap-related. We are right up against the cap, which means I couldn’t fill many holes in FA. One of the best ways to fix the cap situation is to land contributing players on rookie deals.

Also, the depth at LB, OL, and RB for us was non-existent. So I needed a couple prospects at each spot.

To answer @Torgo original question, out of our 13 selections, I fully expect 11 or 12 to make the final roster, somewhat out of necessity, somewhat due to opportunity.

In the end, if I wasn’t so busy at work, and giving 55% of my energy to Indianapolis, I probably would have turned 13 selections into 10-11. But oh well. Lots of depth jobs, future opportunities up for grabs in Dallas

 

I'm not a fan of a system where someone who doesn't hold up their end of a commitment gets "rewarded" for not doing what they signed up to do.

 

But on the other hand, the Chicago FO wouldn't just not turn up to the final round of the draft. So its far more realistic to have an autopick.

Even if it is Lazard, who I was hoping against hope I'd be able to get as a UDFA. I had a 3rd/4th round grade on him.

 

They don't get rewarded, because they're obviously not around to see it. You just get punished.

 

I like this draft. I definitely have Mayfield and Rosen above Darnold, although I do think Darnold could be good (his brain is much better than his arm IMO, and he lets his brain down with some godawful picks when he doesn't see defenders). TBH, with the way the draft turned out, I think you'd have been better staying put and taking Lamar Jackson (I have him and Darnold pretty equal), but you have no idea whether he's going to be there when you pick.

I like Ejiofor, Gallup and Samuels. I've not watched the others yet, but you've gone 3/3 on the random prospects I've watched, so I suspect the other guys might be fine.

 

Thing you have to realize is the commissioner doesn’t do it to “reward” a GM failing to fulfill an obligation. The commissioner does it to upkeep the integrity of our draft.

I for one would feel stupid picking at spot 183, and only 170 players are unavailable to me. Feels like cheating

 

I think they are just trying to keep the order proper, which I agree with...It is bad luck that you keep getting sniped, but i'd rather see a player picked for the team by the mods, rather than just forfeiture of the pick. Just my opinion..It does suck when your player gets taken, but that happens in the draft all the time. Forfeiting picks doesn't.

TBH, I'd rather be sniped by an autopick all the time than by a bunch of different GMs. That way I know just to focus my hate towards the admins. Much easier to manage who I'm supposed to hate that way.

Maybe I was just raised to honor my commitments. I suspect you, along with many others in this exercise, have spents more hours on this than you care to admit. I know I have. It just frosts my ass for someone to say they want to participate and then blow it off.
