G.M.O. - 2018 NFL Draft

See, I think that he was played perfectly in position at DT, but he won't be able to play there in the pros unless he can pack on 30 pounds without losing his quickness. And he doesn't have the athleticism to be an OLB/DE IMO. I can only really see him being an ILB in an attacking 3-4, but there's no tape to show that he can actually do that.

If he was 30 pounds heavier he'd be a clear first rounder for me. But he's not, so I've no idea what his value is.

I think this is a pretty accurate take on Herc and even as a 3-4 ILB there are some flags in his testing numbers.

In that role, he would profile similar to Victor Hobson.

I have three out of the next ten picks. If we stay at our recent pace, I should be okay. However, if only one guy waits until his predetermined pick time, then the I'll be in trouble for the 2nd and 3rd picks as I have a commitment where I will have to leave NLT 4:00pm.

So Mods, - heads up - as I will prepare a list for those two picks.

Yeah, he's basically near the bottom of the LBs in every test. However, I think he's one where the testing numbers don't really reflect his play. You'd look at his jump numbers and think he has no explosion, but he gets off the snap really really well. I'm more concerned about just his ability to pick up the position than I am about his physical skills to play the position.

Plus, how valuable is basically a between the tackles ILB in the modern NFL? A team would really need to scheme to take advantage of what he can do.

    Just from a pure PR standpoint . . .

How cool would it be to have HERCULES lined up as an ILB staring at your *opponents QB as he goes under center?

He was my other option for TE when I took Dalton Schultz. If you need someone who can contribute right away as the backup TE for blocking purposes or to be half of the wedge on kick returns, Schultz and Smythe are the guys you want.

I think the first step in relation to explosiveness can be misleading because of the manner it is created in. It's coming directly off the snap with one direction in mind. Having the ability to change directions, recover and tear off is a better definer for explosion and they are typically reflected really well in the vert and broad.

He profiles physically to be a goal line thumper at ILB, a situational pass rusher on the line and a developmental OLB in a 3-4 scheme, but I think his tenacity would be the reason why he can make it stick at ILB. That trait alone would go a long way towards him making the transition. Find ball carrier, chase ball carrier and kill ball carrier, lol.

No doubt he is an early down guy. No one is going to fear his ability to run sideline to sideline or his coverage on a TE.

Unless he goes the 'Klecko' route and picks up some fullback or becomes a killer at special teams, ILB is probably still his best route for having a long career in the league.

I see where Tom Benson, owner - New Orleans Saints, has died at the age of 90.

I certainly hope he didn't see how I fucked his team up in here and had the Big One !!!

You're doing fine as fill-in Saints GM. Most of us would even say New Orleans got an upgrade.
