Ya, I like pick sniping victories to not be shared. I'll take it.

I divide my tiers, into Didn't expect to be there. Expect to be there, and Oh shit! guys, in terms of comfort within a round. Helps to go through those scenarios.

I mean i'll take the snipe, but you can keep the name to yourself.

Tbh, I like Williams a lot more than Landry. Landry was next on my board, but I only had a late 1st/high 2nd grade on him.

Man Chris, I don't think I have ever seen someone so upset about missing on on maybe the 3rd best LG in a draft class. I really assumed you must have been referring to Landry.

On a side note watching this unfold has shown me my O-line rankings are really different then most draft guys out there...

Landry is a solid 1 with me. I have another guy I'm comfortable with, and two guys in the 'oh shit!' category.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Edit: I was referring to the Landry pick.

I'm thinking he views Williams as a tackle or the 2nd best OG.

I knew what you meant. But sometimes in these mocks there is nothing more flattering than being called an expletive. :FAP:

Yeah I am guessing he sees him as a LT. Lots of people do. I amended my post because apparently I am very different than the chalk when it comes to the lineman in this class. I'll have to try and assemble my thoughts in a slightly neater fashion on this.

I know I view Williams as a tackle. I don't expect him to start though. I have Jason Peters and Lane Johnson still and Vaitai has proven to be serviceable if anything comes up. All those guys can and have played LT, and Johnson is considered the heir to Peters. Williams doesn't have to start and doens't have to be a LT. That being said LT isn't what it used to be. So many guys rush from the other side now. And sometimes it's just comfort. That's why Vaitai was LT and Johnson was RT despite what seemed like an obvious swap would happen.

I also know some people have Williams going in the top half of the 1st round and others have him in the 2nd.

Be rational and coherent? Where's the fun in that?

I could see him as valuable if that's how you view him. I see his "best" position at LG but he could play tackle. And I agree being a LT or RT isn't really that different anymore we really should just think of guys as tackles in general because the best pass rushers move around all over the place.

With the #21st pick in the 2018 NFL Draft the Denver Broncos Select…
    OLB Marcus Davenport, Texas-San Antonio

Williams fits the mold of an Eagles lineman along with that. As for the RT/LT thing, teams discovered some of their best guys could go on the weaker OT(the RT usually) and get better pressure despite the QB having a better view of your movements and the other side probably getting less pressure overall (with a lesser rusher vs the better tackle). This is making the hunt for solid OL in a limited professional pool really go up.

    Broncos Trade:
    1(22)

    Vikings Trade:
    1(30)
    3(30)

I pretty much agree exactly with this. In my head, Williams would have sat for a year behind Whitworth, maybe two. If he was better than expected he could have gone in at right tackle for a bit.

The pros of being good is that your holes are future holes and not current ones. Expiring contracts, guys coming of their rookie deals, aging players, etc.

Tim will be away until around 6:30.

  20. Willie Head Coach Manager News & Notes Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings with the 1/22 overall pick select - Isaiah Wynn, Georgia OG

I'm glad to have moved up, but was still torn between 2 players and on both sides of the ball. Wynn looks like the best fit for now. Vikings needed this more, in my opinion.
