remember the old school football neck pads that Mullen and Rick Vaive used to wear, ahhhhhhh good times.
The jersey in the pic is the ONLY hockey jersey I own. No name, no number, just P I T T S B U R G H across the front and the 2 emblems on the shoulders.
Absolutely Frank, one of my all time favorite unis. Snoop wore one in Gin n Juice video back when Mario was wearing them in actual games. As a coach I had the opportunity to design my teams unis one year and used that as a template. Our colors were blue/gold so I swapped out the black for blue and had Colonials going diagonally down the front. They were sharp.
Fleury earned his 74th career post season win, tying him in eighth place all-time with Chris Osgood. #MAF=B.C.G.E.
I love this chart, but I question the presentation of information. For example, they show Florida's starter as having a lower Save % than the backup. This is due to the fact that Luongo, with injury, played fewer games than Reimer. However, he is / was the starter, and the difference in games played wasn't particularly significant. So, it's a minor discrepancy, but one that changes the display of information above. Florida would, then, be in the Columbus / Toronto / NYR area. Not sure if this applies to other teams, so it's worth bringing up. Interesting to see where these teams fall, especially the playoff teams. Obviously, the outlier is Las Vegas. Of course, in tandem with that is the poorer goaltending numbers for Pittsburgh, former home of LV's goalie...
good point. i wonder what constitutes a starter here? assuming its the guy that played the most minutes but thats not a fair depiction of teams like the '17/18 Panthers.
I'd make the same guess. It's a simple, uniform way to approach it, but I'd imagine Florida isn't the only team whose starter is being attributed as their backup. Ultimately, not a big deal, just adding some perspective. Luongo is back for the coming year, he's said. He and Reimer should continue to be a good pair. Lu talked at length in an interview this year about his age, and how it affects his game. He said there's no doubt that he's not as quick as he used to be, but he also said that he has a much more instinctive understanding of the game, and how to communicate with his team. He said that he feels good, and he'll keep playing until either he doesn't, or his play drops off. So far, I see no reason for him to go anywhere. Glad he and Reimer are back for another year. Where it's going to get tricky is if / when Lu does start to struggle. A - in that year, they'll suffer. It'll take proof of Lu consistently underperforming before they swap in Reimer as the de facto starter, which will cost a few games. Then, they'll need Reimer at the top of his game for the remainder of the year. B - Once Lu is done, not only is his contract an obstacle, but so is the fact that they have NO ONE ready to step up. Sateri played really well when he came up for a few games, but he's not a young guy, so that's not a long-term solution, if it is one at all. Montembeault doesn't look like the guy the franchise desperately needs him to be. The cupboard is bare.
