halo-flyers shootout attempts look like they A- don't care bc the attempt is non-creative and just a lazy shot into the goalie's pad or B-they don't know how to fake out a goalie using a little creativity to give themselves a chance to score. the last 4 Flyer coaches must not have worked on OT shootouts bc they suck at it. Their record is always dead last in OT W-L for a reason! it was so bad the coach didn't let Giroux take a shot and let scrub Matt Read take one. That drew a ton of comments towards the coach from the Flyers faithful.
exactly. or Tampa. even Winnipeg, Boston, Philly, Columbus, Anaheim, Washington... a couple of them anyway.
The cost of carrying three 30 goal scorers after their ELC expires. All at the same time, anywhere from $25M to $32M for three players.
I see your point that the cap restricts super teams but I dont think those salary numbers are necessary. Bruins a C-hair away from having 3 30 goal men, only reason Bergy isnt there is that he's missed 20 games. none on ELCs, all locked up long term and their combined salary is under $20. In TB Kucherov, Stamkos and Point are right there as well. Moving forward theyll pay up on Kucherov (not on his ELC now) but those 3 added together for this season are less than $15. Point is on an ELC.
I know what you're saying, I'm talking about a 28 year old that gets 30 to 40 goals a year for over five years in a row, how much would three of those guys cost combined? There's players that might go over thirty a couple of times over five or six years, there's years where they score 22.
Crosby, Malkin and TEH Savior combined make nearly $30M ($28.75M, I think). So yes, that is a big chunk of salary. Seems safe to assume that a consistent 30-goal scorer will cost around $8-10M each.
When you have a $75M cap, $30M goes to 3 players, its real tough to fit another twenty players with only $45M left.
I say that all the time about Pittsburgh and yet they just won back to back Cups. how do they do it and still have money to pay people AND win and contend ???
As a leaf fan, I'm not ashamed to admit that the pens got the deal of the century on kessel. I think the leafs pay $1.5M of his salary, so it's only a $6.5 cap hit to the pens.
This is where being a tax free state comes into play a bit, the take home pay is all that matters to the player, but the team gets the cap hit.
Rutherford drunkenly stumbled on Kessel. Was that Rutherford or Shero actually? Hell of a deal is right though. Such a good fit Philip and the dirty Penguins. Schultz was another drunken stumble. For the record Murray was a drunken draft pick.
There are currently (3) NHL players with (60) or more assists. (2) of the (3) are Philadelphia Flyers (Couts/Ass-grabber).
Tuukka Rask is the first goalie in Boston history to win 30+ games 5 times. he has the team record for saves and save percentage and is 15 wins out of the #1 spot in team history for Ws..
The Washington Capitals have now won the Metro Division 3 years in a row... and have ZERO cups to show for it. At least they don’t have to lug around another President’s Trophy.
that's wrong. it's ass-grabber not named kevin spacey and jake voracek. couts leads the team in goals, not assists.
