I know, I'm just kidding, the game is growing in the US. There's a much bigger population and better school programs. It's getting expensive over here and cash strapped parents are registering their kids in soccer more than hockey. When I was a kid it was much cheaper and I only played house league, the fee was $120 back in the late 70s. I remember when I bought my first equipment, I don't even think it came out to over $120. Now, it's become a game for elite, or parents going in debt to pay for their sons training.

Will-that's why me, 3 of my brothers and the neighborhood kids all played street hockey. a lot cheaper and Mylec sticks were $9.99. all you needed were a few guys, a $1.99 Orange Mylec Hockey ball and someone to buck up and buy goalie pads. done.

Canada is still on top of the mountain but 10-15 years ago I wouldve said that it was then Russia/ Sweden at the next level and then US/Czech/Finland.
now Canada on top, Us right under and then Sweden/Russia and so on. just my opinion.

I played street hockey till dark. Rain, snow, freezing cold... loved it. Hell, I even bought some equipment extras so the guy's in my hood would play with me.

I was the hockey nerd who spent hours by himself target practicing... just loved the game.

Been awhile since we've heard Tallon mentioned around these parts.

What kind of gm doesn't invite his 2nd round (38th overall) to training camp? Coming off a 100 pt season with kitchener.

Ya that seems strange. Was the kid healthy? Can’t figure out what benefit you could have by not inviting the kid to camp. Even if you know the kid is going back giving him a small look at the big time can only help.

He was healthy, he already has 67 pts this year. The worst part is that he didn't even get a phonecall, it left the kid devastated.

love the thread, and in my mind kids from san diego, ca can play. years ago matty asked me how long it would take for Thatcher Demko to appear. I said 5 yrs, it may be only 4. It is amazing how many players are coming from nowhere USA.

The Winnipeg Jets have eight players that have hit double digit goal totals.
That's tops in the NHL. Patrik Laine (23), Nikolaj Ehlers (19), Kyle Connor (17), Mark Scheifele (15), Mathieu Perreault (15), Blake Wheeler (14), Bryan Little (11) and Joel Armia (10) are all part of the club.

Not easy beating joanie these days.

When Lowry gets to 10 goals the jets will have 9 players with double digit goals.

When marner and bozak get to 10, the leafs will also have 9.

last night Matthew Barzal became the first player in 100 years to have 3 5pt games in their rookie season.

friendly reminder, the Broonz passed on him thrice in the 2015 draft.

Damn, that’s a lot. Wonder if he’s gonna beat Bigfat’s 9 empty-betters in the one season he hit 30.

It's within reach, he's the pk guy, so when they put out the 6th attacker, he's always on the ice.

Vegas Golden Knights have another record:
They beat the Ducks points record (83) for an inaugural season (currently at 84).
