Start buying, Matty. I have been to 3 of the last 14 Avs. games - PIT, MIN, & NYR. (I also saw them play in early December when they had the good grace to lose to Buffalo.) This team is passing the eye test; they're getting contributions from everyone in the lineup. Are they ready to compete for the SC with this lineup? Not in my opinion. But they look very much like a playoff team, and I expect that's where they'll be in April. Last year's team was much better than their record. Since then they have a vastly improved D. The problem is they had former HC Roy's dirty fingerprints all over the organization, and it drove them to literal distraction. Taking this into consideration makes this year's turn-around less surprising. The Avs are more likely to be a playoff team than a lottery team.
The team I'd consider buying when it comes to real-season performance is the hockey team from Boston. They are my favorite - as viewed from my mountain perch - to win the EC. Of course, you and many others think they suck to some degree. They've got issues like every team, but I see no reason to discount their ability to continue to get better.
We will see. Even with this run the Avs have been on the only team that has less points than them in that division is Chicago. I like this organization and want the Avs to be competitive again but I think water will inevitably find its level in this case and they’ll be in the basement again.
Ya maybe. I’m just not buying until they can prove that they can win big games. They’ve shit the bed so many times at the end of the season.... I’m jaded. This McAvoy situation will be enormous. His impact has been so huge. Making Chara look better and younger by the day.
Water finding its level. Sometimes that takes a team in a buoyant direction. Roy "I wanna be GM too" shot holes in the organization with his irrational decisiveness. That's what sank the Avs last year. That's behind them now and they're returning to their level. BTW, games in hand - which the Avs have - can mean a lot. Whattya done for us lately? matters a lot too. I expect to see playoff hockey in Denver this year.
Anaheim is 12-1-1 vs Boston in their last 14. In related stats, Frank is 1 for 1 in Broonz jinxes in 2018.
Vegas Golden Knights are 22-1 when scoring first this season. Vegas Golden Knights have also tied another record. One more win and that one is theirs too. http://www.sportingnews.com/nhl/news/comeback-win-ties-vegas-for-most/1kcvcpsj8gyem13bd7m1zvzqle
Vegas just keeps rolling... I just hope they don't go out 4 straight. They'll have home ice, I wonder how much scalpers will be charging?
I want to see Pittsburgh beat BCGE in a 7 game Finals. If VGK wins, then that would be a good story too.
don't mention him. we're not allowed too. someone on here knows or met him more than once (maybe Dan K or All-Pgh) and said he was a royal asshole. Look at the 91-92 Pitt teams. Mario, JAgr, Francis, Recchi, Trottier, Coffey, Samuelson and add 90-100 pt scorers Stevens, Brown and Rick Tocchet! I could've played goalie instead of Barasso and won.
