Fun stat of the day

Discussion in 'NHL General Discussion Board' started by hockeybob, Jan 3, 2014.

  1. pierre racicot is one of the linesmen for tonight's ducks - flames game. having officiated more than 1400 games, including tonight, which is his 177th playoff game, tonight is his first ever game officiated in calgary.

    wtf?

    ^this

1400 games? Do they have NL/AL format or something?

  3. the canuckian announcer who brought it up was as clueless as i as to why. he speculated that maybe pierre had several warrants out for him in calgary, and the league was protecting him. however, he offered no explanation as to why he was there last night. statute of limitations?

    Worlds 2015:
Finland (4-0-0-1, 12 points) has shut out four consecutive opponents and hasn't allowed a goal since surrendering an empty-netter at 17:22 of the third period in its first game, a 5-1 loss to the United States on May 1. Finland has not allowed a goal in 242 minutes and 38 seconds, breaking the modern-day record for longest team shutout streak of 209:02, set in 1957 by Sweden.

    sold.

    I'll by that explanation.

I left a divot where I was scratching my head.

Those Finns are gude at not letting pucks in net thingy.

Wow, I was a bit curious about this. Sens owner Eugene Melnyk is of Ukraine decent and has contributed a lot of money to orphanages over there over the years. We all know about the land grab by putin taking crimea from ukraine and also supporting the rebels in the east. So Ukraine and russian relations are at rock bottom. So how many russian players suit up for the Sens? ZERO!

Is this the same guy who needs a liver transplant?

Yeah, supposedly he's found a donor.

is it in bad taste to say that there's probably a captured KGB operative in a Ukranian dumpster missing a liver?

The last time they had any russians was in 2011-12, they had Nikita Filatov and Sergei Gonchar. Is this legal? Can you refuse to have certain players on your team based on their ethnicity? Doesn't this go against CBA rules? Is this not discrimination?

  13. skinny123 Guest

My answer, you can't really prove this, the russians are few enough that you could get away with it.

I tell you one thing, whoever gives up their liver, the family will get lifetime season tickets.

forgot about Filatov, Id be gun shy if I were the Sens after that guy too.

Broonz seem to hate Russians too. All I can think of are Chistov for a short stint, Samsanov, Kvartalnov (personal Broon fav of mine) and Gonchar for a very short stint. only a few Russian draft picks even- Khochlachev couple years ago, Yuri Alexandrov (bust), and 1st round pick goalie Evgeni Ryabchikov (super bust). thats all that come to mind over the past 20 years or so

I think there was a trend there for a while, probably started by the wings, where they would try and get a group of them hoping that it would make for better chemistry.

Who could forget Sergei Samsanov, talk about soft.

The word in Buffalo is that TM hates Russians, and of course he came from the Sens. He inherited a couple of high profile prospects- Grigerenko and Zadarov. Grigs had his development screwed up by Regier, and Zads was forced to play in the NHL (his rights were owned by the KHL so they prevented him from going to the OHL, and he was too young for the AHL). So, both Russians had special challenges, and it will fuel the theory that TM wants no Russians if both get traded.
I really like Zads but he showed some maturity issues. If Grigs fails to have his breakout season, then everyone would probably be better off if he were moved.

and he's the best of the bunch.
Kvartalnov was pretty good too. he played on a line w/ Neely and Oates (who wouldn't be good w/ them) and put up some good numbers. he left the NHL after 2 years and went back to Europe, rumor was that he had a sick wife and didn't want to bring her over. he hated the Blennie given nickname 'Special K'. i scored a Kvartalnov jersey on ebay about 10 years ago for something like $20. i'll wear it in the beer leagues some times, guys love it.

Dan, i would think that if both of those guys get moved it would be in separate deals. could bring back something nice Im sure.
