  1. 40 tackles doesn’t raise an eye brow?

No beause he had 97 tackles 57 solo 40 assist of those 97 tacklex 40 were considered stops

  3. What is considered a stop? Not falling forward? I really dont know

  4. Jeanquev Legend Steelers

Trying to find it exact terminolgy but my guess would be run stop with no gain or a very minimal gain.

Just curious if it is considered a 3rd down stop. That is the only time I can think of the word being used continuously during games.

Read on the Depot that a stop is considered a running play that fails to get 45% of the yards to gain. So if its first and ten, it's considered a stop if the runner doesn't get 4.5 yards. On a 2nd and 7 its a stop if the runner is tackled before 3 yards. I don't know if that is universal or just used on the Depot though, I'd have to reread the article.

I get the concept, but have a problem considering a 4.5 yard gain on first down anything special. If you make a stop on for three downs it equals 8.43 yards so that sounds good. But they still would have a fourth down even if they gained 99% of what they needed on every play.

  8. I agree getting 4.5 yds every 1st down is a win for the offense

Jon Bostick is a freaking steal. My first son is a Bears fan (grew up K-12 in Chicago) and we talked then about the 2nd round pick 2013. If you want to see something special, go to google, Jon Bostick and watch his Bears and Florida highlights. Called all the defense plays for Colts last year, check out the stats in comparison to Shalieve

... typical Steeler FA signing, under the radar player who, as he was playing for one of the worst defenses in 2017 NFL will blossom... I mean IMO BLOSSOM in to the player everyone thought a second pick playing in our system. I couldn't be happier for this kind of money ...

Steelers signed S Morgan Burnett, formerly of the Packers.

Pittsburgh needed help at safety after cutting both Mike Mitchell and Robert Golden, and Burnett was arguably the best available option in what has been an extremely slow moving market. Burnett should settle in as the starter opposite Sean Davis.

From other things I have read about him, it sounds like this is a good signing if he can stay healthy

The 29-year-old played mostly as a box safety in 2017, per Next Gen Stats, providing range, coverage against tight ends and running backs, and solid tackling.

Burnett's absence was noticeable in the four games he missed last season. As the quarterback of the defense, Green Bay struggled with communication when he was out. His versatility -- ability to play safety, nickel corner, extra linebacker -- was an asset in the Packers' scheme.

Burnett now brings that on-field communication to a Pittsburgh secondary that too often suffered mental breakdowns on the back end the past few seasons. His position flexibility also will come in handy for Mike Tomlin and Keith Butler.

Solid tackling and can help with the mental breakdowns. Its looks like an upgrade.

  12. Pitt just makes the right moves....signing a LB that was so needed and had almost 100 tackles on a bad defense will improve when he has better talent around him....as stated Burnett is a vet that has played in big games and will communicate for the back end of the defense....these guys were under the radar signings but will pay huge dividends in 2018

I really like Burnett. The Packers had a good set of safeties but lousy corners and no pass rush. Burnett will fit in well for the Steelers. Hope the health holds up.

Steelers resign RB Stephen Ridley on a 1 year deal. He'll battle Fitz for the #3, possibly be the #2 when all is said an done. Conner got injured later in the year and honestly didn't see a lot to get excited about with him other than his backstory.

I am curious as to why you think Conner didn't do much for you? He didn't get in very often, but averaged 4.5 yards per carry. I think if he stays healthy he could be a solid starter if not a very good one. JMHO

I think there is a good chance that we could pick a QB in rd1 of this draft. The Steelers really seem to be making sure that we don’t have any glaring needs in this draft. I would love to pick Josh Allen and let him sit behind Ben for two seasons.

Agree I like the way Conner attacks the hole. He didn't get too many looks but when he did he didn't disappoint.

Very small sample size, only time we saw a lot of him was in the pre-season. He hasn't been a disappointment, more of an unknown. Maybe if he got more carries and continued success, I'd feel better about him. Wish he wan't injured for the finale, he would have carried the ball the whole game. He is not a very good pass protector, but that could be worked on in this offseason if he is healthy enough. Got hurt later in the season, so I don't know if he'll ready for TC. Maybe I have been too harsh on him, I do hope he turns into a quality runner for the Steelers. By no means do I think the team should draft Guice in the 1st round or anything like that. I really just meant that Ridley likely gets more snaps than Conner if Bell isn't injured or isn't available for games, unless Conner shows improvement in his pass protection. Conner might get more carries, but anytime they go no huddle (which I'm hoping they do more of) and 3rd downs Ridley would be my preference based on what we saw last season. Clearly the coaches will see them in practice and will be able to determine if Conner has improved enough. If Conner does improve, we might even see Ridley cut because the coaches foolishly think Toussaint can return kicks.
