It will be really interesting to see which of the QBs go when. A few months ago I would have expected Daniels to be the "odd man out" the way that our mocks had Penix and Nix slide. But mobile QBs add a huge extra dimension to the offense - as long as you can get them to avoid the big hits. There's certainly a chance that he's not the choice for the real Washington team, but any team could build an offense around him. Fully agree that Sinnott is an immediate contributor - and not just run plays - in the right system. Jarrian Jones is worth a longer description. It's not just the 4.38 speed. It's also that he's 6'0 with a 39.5" vertical. You are NOT going to beat him on a fade route. And he's also solid against the run. If Dan Quinn implements his 4-3 Under scheme in Washington, you would expect to see Jones on the field in packages as a rookie and likely starting at one of the two outside CB spots in 2025. Terrific snag!
Useless info: The most traded pick in this mock was pick 253 originally with the LA Chargers. Moved 4 times (thus far): Chargers-->Eagles--->Seahawks--->Colts---> back to Seahawks! trade 1: 18, 69, 253 from LAC to Phi 22, 50 from Phi to LAC trade 2: 118 from Sea to Phi 253, Albert O, M Goodrich from Phi to Sea trade 3: 192, 253 from Sea to Ind 4 various players from Ind to Sea trade 4: 235 from Sea to Ind 253, 2025 7th from Ind to Sea Ha... Seattle @Torgo should give it back to LAC just to complete the circle.
The MINNESOTA VIKINGS "FINAL" Collaborative Mock Draft 1) R1/03 QB, Drake Maye - NCU 2) R4/108 EDGE, Mohamed Kamara - CSU 3) R4/129 CB, Elijah Jones - BC 4) R5/157 ILB, Tommy Eichenberg - The OSU 5) R5/167 RB, Emani Bailey - TCU 6) R6/177 OT, Garret Greenfield - SDSU 7) R7/230 OC, Charles Turner III - LSU 8) R7/232 WR, Bub Means - PITT Trading up for Maye was my highlight, which still left me with just enough picks to address all the critical needs for the Vikings. I tackled the most critical needs in prioritized order and selected the BPA at those positions and was really pleased with the talent I could glean. Had fun with this thing and it was nice to meet some new people. Thanks to, Torgo, RT and Joe for their dedication in running this and of course to Tim who supplies the platform. I learn quite a lot from you guys, its always fun.
The first name that jumps out at me here is Carson Steele. Before he transferred to UCLA, he was the successor to Caleb Huntley at Ball State. (Huntley was a UDFA for my Falcons who turned out to be a solid prospect - until he got hurt. I'm still hoping my team will bring him back.) Steele is in a similar vein - except better. If you're looking for the Thunder half of the lightning and thunder combination, he's your guy. Terrifying thought is having him catch passes in the flat. He's built like a linebacker. He's not going to outrun anyone, but tackling him will be like tackling a freight train.
The other unknown name here that I think needs more attention is the Samford QB, Michael Hiers. (Every now and then I pay attention to the Southern Conference, as I have friends with ties to Mercer and Furman and family ties to Samford.) He's a sleeper and a project, and he'll be 25 when the season gets underway. But he has good touch and exceptional accuracy for a college QB, and he's had more competitive reps than most college QBs because he went to the Junior College level for two years. The speed of the NFL game will be a huge adjustment for him, but he would get tremendous benefits from running the scout team either as QB3 or on the practice squad. I'd say he's capable of filling in as a starter, but you'd want to design a package for him where he could make the most difficult reads before the snap rather than after. Taking him in combination with Spencer Rattler is a nice touch. Rattler works his way up to the future starting role while Hiers works his way onto the roster as a true QB2 behind him. As for the rest, Renardo Green was on my radar for both the Texans and Seahawks, and the alternate scenario I considered for the first mock (as the Falcons) was trading down from #8 and taking Murphy. If Raheem Morris plans to use Kaden Elliss as an edge rusher, the real Falcons might go that route. I wouldn't mind at all if they did.
Not much more to say than you got your QB this time around. Everything after that is extra frosting on the cake.
The Chargers never wanted to add 253 to the trade down from 1.18 to 1.22 with Philly. But was needed to get deal done. I'd be happy to take it back if there is someone there I like for a 2025 6th?
