FINAL 2024 Collaborative Mock

I don’t have a big board. I use the first mock as my big board. The thing I noticed is that a lot of people on here are picking guys earlier than they are projected to go. So if I’m interested in a player I have to pick them earlier than I feel like because picking last in each rd doesn’t leave much chance of them sliding.

I also find when we do multiple mocks, there's a little bit of that "oh I miss out on guy I really like in mock one when he's draft 75 OVR", so in mock two I don't shy away from spending pick 48 to get him this time.

    Pittsburgh Steelers:

    1(20) Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia
It’s the odds on selection they make on Thursday and the kids upside is worth the risk. I’ve read they can’t afford and upside, raw talent; but Tomlin isn’t one to hesitate with that ie. Broderick Jones.
    2(19) Max Melton, CB, Rutgers
CB’s went fast early on and Melton has been a fast riser of late. A physical CB who played against athletic WRs in the Big Ten and played well.
    3(20) Ruke Orhorhoro, DE5T, Clemson
Value alone was why I picked Ruke. A high motor and unrelenting work ethic makes him a Steelers kind of player.
4(19) Nathaniel Watson, LB, Mississippi St.
Maybhave taken him a bit early, but a thumper of a LB they haven’t had since Vince Williams was a necessity. Plus he can slide into ST units early on as well.
6(2) Hunter Nourzad, C, Penn St.
I didn’t intend to wait this long on a C, but the value versus pick wasn’t good enough to reach on one. Nourzad was the local kid with experience to play with a chip on his shoulder.
    6(19) Cornelius Johnson, WR, Michigan
A while ago, they took a WR in the 6th from a Michigan school (it worked out pretty well), but this kid can ball out. He’s shown flashes of having that big game in big games (OSU ‘22).

    Traded 3(34) for Courtland Sutton
This was a no brainer as he had his most steady season with Russ, and overall has been a consistent WR in his career despite lackluster talent from the QB position, for the most part.

    Carolina Panthers:

2(1) Peyton Wilson, LB, NC State
They need a leader on the defense. Add in Keuchly has vouched for him, makes this a no nonsense pick.
2(11) Trey Benson, RB, Florida St.
the position is rough since CMC was traded away. Sanders isn’t the answer and my RB1 could be an instant starter in Carolina.
3(1) Xavier Legette, WR, South Carolina
Value, value, value. A big WR who is a YAC machine will only help Young grow. Plus he will have a year to acclimate to the NFL with Diontae being there on the last year of his deal.
    4(1) Kris Abrams-Draine, CB, Missouri
I love this kid and his willingness to get after it. Unafraid to tackle and played great football in the SEC.
    5(6) DeWayne Carter, DT, Duke
Energetic big boy that could thrive beside Derrick Brown. Solid against the run, as well as capable of eating up blockers to free up other defenders.
5(7) Theo Johnson, TE, Penn St.
My #3 TE who couldn’t break out because of inconsistent QB play. Athletic TE who has a knack for making contested catches.
    6(11) Joshua Karty, K, Stanford
Top K and I saw it as an area to upgrade. May not be the greatest of value, but one I can live with.
6(21) Brennan Jackson, EDGE, Washington St.
I felt like he was worth taking a flier on as it’s not as big of a need as it was a month and a half ago. Not crazy productive, but he steadily got better each year in college.

    Traded 2(7) & 7(20) for 2(11), 6(11), & 6(21)

I think you did very well. I especially like what you did with Pittsburgh. I know you may have had other targets in mind early, but the CB's did fly early and Melton isnt trash. You did what you had to do and it went well.

that’s why they got a 6 for Mac and I’ll settle for a moldy maple bar from the back of Golden Tate’s cupboard for Zappe

I can honestly say I only got sniped once and that was in the 4th when I was intending to take Bortolini. Even so, I still had ILB as a need and I had to decide between Watson and Magee.
