Bowles isn't a bad choice. I have not had any time to think of who I'd prefer. But Bowles definitely isn't bad.
Tod Bowles now being mentioned as a candidate. Supposedly he did not sign with Tampa yet and is keeping his options open.
There's no ink on a contract for Bowles. But, let's be real - until he visits somewhere, or there is indeed ink on a contract, all these Twitter talking heads are absolutely meaningless. They're all just regurgitating shit for the views. Schefter is the fucking pro at that - what a waste of space.
I stop following Schefter a long time ago. He will tweet any rumor just for the chance to later say he scooped it first. Hate that guy.
I thought he was a son to Nagy's dad , wait maybe he's my long lost brother and MY dad has another son ... wtf I'm so confused who's Bowles real daddy ????????????????????
Bingo. Fuck that dude. I have never seen a more worthless individual on TV talking football - and I'm including Phil Simms, Boomer Esiason... all of them.
The ESPN article was updated: “Former Jets coach Todd Bowles, who was fired last month after three straight losing seasons in New York, had been expected to join Arians in Tampa Bay as defensive coordinator, sources told ESPN's Dianna Russini. But Bowles is now also being considered to replace Vic Fangio as the Chicago Bears' defensive coordinator, league sources confirmed to ESPN. Fangio has reached an agreement to become the Denver Broncos' coach.” I wouldn’t mind Bowles at all.
At this point I think our best replacement is already in the building. Promoting Ed Donatell would keep locker room continuity as best as possible, plus he’s no slouch in his own right with 27 years of NFL experience, and one hell of a track record of success.
This really isn't a surprise, the fit with the Broncos looked way too good. Doesn't change the fact that this is a bitterly disappointing piece of news. Fangio is/was one of the top DC's in the league, i still considering his hiring as one of the very best moves Pace has made with this team. This may not seem like too big a deal to some, afterall, assuming one of Amos/Callahan is back this D's personnel is gonna remain almost completely intact going into next season. Thats both rare and very good. But heed bww's warning. The guy running the system matters, big time. This was(i think) the least penalized D in the league. They were giving up basically a penalty per half of football on average this season. In an age where the deck is stacked so ridiculously against D's now that is, frankly, jaw dropping. It was cos of Fangio more than anything else. Just one area we can't expect to remain the same. Looking forward......i know we always want more but in truth the pass rush on this team is good. We don't need a blitzing maniac coming in here and giving up unnecessary home runs by over-exposing the secondary. On the whole Fangio's D's make so few mistakes cos everyone is all over their own resonsibility and part of that is cos Fangio's coverages are not hugely complicated. JMO but if there was one thing i kinda wished for more from Fangio, it was more guile in this area. Thats the kinda DC i'd like to come in now. Bowles is a blitz happy guy, im not sure how much id like that move. ANd fuck Greg Williams. Haven't looked around a huge amount but it would have to be someone very good to get me away from Donatell.
FFS. Fucking Broncos. I actually think he'd take that. It'll be similar to a Frodo in Miami situation.
Yeah I think we can cross Donatell off the list then too. That sucks, top two candidates gone that quickly. No no no to Gregg Williams. I hate that guy almost as much as Pete Carroll. There’s a reason he’s free too. I am now concerned he is going to get a Babich running the show, and Nagy is an offensive minded coach so we need someone strong on that side.
