There is definitely going to be a lot of time involved in the first draft. A minimum of 5 hours should be set aside as we will have to do the initial 32 on draft day. Unfortunately there is no way around it. I have it set for a Saturday at the end of July but I'm thinking the Sunday would probably work better for everybody. If we start at 3pm it will be wrapped up before 9. We have a 30 round IDP draft where everyone is in the same room, 10 team league and it takes around 5 hours to complete.
Wow, yeah, that's a lot of players...I've never been in a league where you had more bench players than starters..pretty much takes free agency out of the equation. Will have to rely on trades.
That's one of the reasons why having a flex on both sides makes sense. Once you figure in the practice squad players that would give you exactly the same amount of starters as you have bench + PS. We have time to make adjustments to the scoring and roster settings but I want them finalized by July 10th so everyone that is involved that has an opinion needs to bring it up as soon as possible. I will also be looking for volunteers for co-commissioners. 1 from each conference.
I'm fine with ANY rules and rosters...I will adjust accordingly to what the group agrees to. It's been quite a few years since I was in a keeper league, so that will take some adjustments anyway. If you have everything finalized by July 10th, that will give me plenty of time to prepare.
Relying on trades will be a pleasant change for me. My yearly league has maybe one whole trade each year. I vote for including the flex on both offense and defense. My brother agrees too...or at least he's not picky. I will throw my name in the ring for co-commish if you need me Tim. Just let me know one way or the other once everything else is finalized. As hardcore draftniks, we should all be excited at how long the initial draft will take. I know I am. At least in the yearly leagues, that part is actually the most fun. It's all work and disappointment after that. *WALL*

Tim, if you guys have people on a waiting list who really want in the league, I don't mind relinquishing my spot. I have a feeling that some would be more excited about this than I seem to be. So go ahead and let one of the hopeful take my spot. To be honest, I am just not that excited about the number of players being drafted and the IDPs. Just getting a bit to complex for my tired old mind to deal with and keep up on. I will continue to look for a simpler dynasty or keeper league or maybe even start my own next month if I can't find one I like. Thanks so much for thinking of me and inviting me to play, though.
