SeeBS? Really?? I'm not sure about that. I don't know if you've done it there before. I did a free one there about 3 years ago, maybe 2. And their free agent pool search engine was a nightmare. I sure hope they've improved that if we go with them. They never updated the pool. So it was at any given position, 500 names long, including guys who had been retired for 2-3 years, with seemingly no logic to the order they were presented (other than alphabetical). But when you're looking for a legit fantasy FA that is just messy, impossible to sift through. It was such a good experience I have never come close to considering going back there for fantasy. It's possible they've improved it. Lord knows it was obvious at first glance it needed improving.
This makes perfect sense to me. I've never done IDP before either, but somehow I always knew it would pull me in sooner or later. It will be easy enough.
I'll still do this even if you guys decide to go with SeeBS. I still think Yahoo is more comprehensive and allows more flexibility. yahoo's fantasy games seem to be backed by coders and designers who at least have some sports knowledge... unlike the group of Poindexters that work for "the eye".
Don't use NFL.com. Last year they went from the best to the worst. They have pay content or player info and stats and they don't even properly show fantasy points of previous weeks when you click a player.
Plus they give you a literal 1-game projection for the projected points for the week. I did a league last year and refused to use their projections to help determine a guy to pickup for the week.
Pretty much, until we have enough people involved. Last I counted we were at 8 and in need of 4 more. If we get the participants then it's still a go.
Just curious, but is 10 not enough?? Has to be 12? I can recruit my brother if you like Tim. He knows his stuff, he'll ask me for advice if he's lacking. Doesn't follow the draft as much as I do...
I remember Evan talking about joining a dynasty league. I'll email him today. Truth - if you think your brother would be a long term owner I have no problem with him joining. I'm going to do the head count again today and see if we missed anyone. I would like to have the website, scoring and draft date finalized by the second week of July.
Thanks for remembering, Tim. And good timing too for I just started doing some mock drafts this weekend to get into practice. Yes, count me in for sure. At my age though I can't guarantee that I will be around for the next 20 yrs. Maybe the League should take out a life insurance policy on me. So you will all know also, this would be my first dynasty league. I have been playing about 8-10 leagues each season for several years now, usually half of them snake and other half auction type. To me the auction type is the only one that takes any skill or strategy for. I have never done one with individual defensive/sp teams players. What will our dynasty league be, an auction with each team having a limited amount to work with? That would be my vote for if we had a vote. I am up for anyway you decide to set it up though. Let me know if it is a typical auction or snake type draft so I can begin studying, researching players, and practicing draft strategy. It will take a few weeks to get it all straight in my head and prepare properly for the draft.
Ok, so that give us the following - Evan mutigers Beach Irish LAOJoe Truth FireHalo SPress Jason Tim That gives us 10. StlCrtn, you posted on the thread but I didn't see anywhere that you said you were in. If you are, that gives us 11 and we would need 1 more. If not, we need 2.
For clarity sake, this definition was taken from the Fantasy Football Glossary: Keeper League A league in which a certain number of players can be retained from the previous season by each owner, so that their whole team does not have to be redrafted. The number of players can vary. If you retain your whole team it is called a dynasty league.
My brother said he'd be happy to join Tim. Like myself and LAOJoe, he's never done IDP before. So at least none of us newbs are alone on that front... I'll make him sign up on the site sometime in the next 48 hours.
