Lol I know huh. Ottawa used to be the Rough Riders but then the team folded. When they got a new team the became the Renegades, likely to keep from having a similar name to the Saskatchewan Roughriders again. No they didn't move there; there were two at once. After the Renegades folded in the 2000s Ottawa won a bid later to get a new team starting last year. They didn't want to use the similar name or the failure Renegade name so they decided after a bunch of years of thank ng to just call themselves their team colors, the RedBlacks. At least the Cleveland Browns are likely named after a person and St Louis Blues after music.
I've been trying to figure out a polite not to racist sarcastic social comment on that name for about 5mis now. Lets just say down here in the good ol US of A in the 21st century I'm not sure how well that would fly. Hell as a part Irishman that works outside in the summer I'm a little insulted by the Red part, imagine what the real lefties would do with it.
They should just drop the "Red" part of the name. With both colors they seem... confused. And they can't be the "Reds". Both for the commie thing and the Cincy thing. I vote for the Blacks. Of course the Blackhawks might have claims on that, since they were incorrectly named the "Blacks" by a Chicago news station this season. Might be time to go back to the drawing board.
You don't have s many politically correct idiots up here. In Canada: Team colors forever. Got it; no problem. In USA: Some people might be offended even if it makes no direct mention to any group of people. Gotta start a national uproar. Then again we are backwater up here so maybe we are behind on the times and it'll take 40-50 years to catch on as a nation of how racist we really are.
MY personal favourite was the old Tiger-Cats logo before they simplified it. Bad ass. My fav logo now is probably the Roughriders logo. Just think it looks so crisp, especially with their unis. Although the Calgary reds are really sharp and probably have the best jersey. Best red jersey and helmet in football IMO. But I bet many people on this site would prefer my team's jersey. I like how all the teams look in general, even the orange of BC. Sorry if too big up ahead. And of course Toronto

Never used the term "Durn McBlurn". What's the sauce (source)? I see Durn, as a slang for darn. McBlurn ... blurred vision? Do you know the source for that term?
I have no idea where it is derived from. Most of the old heads I know of that used to use it have since passed on but when I make my next trip back to my hometown I will ask and see if I can find out for you. It will definitely make for good conversation with some old friends.
