Agreed! Very noticeable when Trevathan is in. I was just being the messenger 'cuz I'm perplexed by that pick
Fangio loves and craves versatility. He also covets IQ and physical athleticism over size. That's really all I got in terms of the picks.
Kylie Fitts. Finally drafted an edge rusher....and he has injury concerns. And a name that sounds like some horrible female pop star. Joy.
Nichols is a 2 gap run stopper with no pass rush ability. Kylie Fitts has played in 9 games the past 2 seasons. 8 in 2017. So that's a plus I guess. He'll be a situational pass rusher in 2018, probably 4th on the depth chart, if he isn't on IR. Okay Pace, dazzle us with the 7th rounder.
Some really good value guys appear to be available. Justin Jackson and Godwin Igwebuike from Northwestern, JC Jackson from Maryland, Holton Hill from Texas, Quentin Meeks from Stanford. All mid-round projected guys.
Javon Wims round 7. Juco Transfer, known for consistent hands and catching tough passes in traffic. 6'3, no top end speed and reportedly has stamina issues when running long routes, per his scouting report on NFL.com. So a possession WR in the red zone? Where's aggie, we have guys from his team. Already Ryan Nall (RB from Oregon State) and Andrew Trumbetti (Edge from ND) have reportedly signed as undrafted free agents. Greg Gabriel is tweeting about both. Edit*** Dejon Allen (OT from Hawaii) and Eli Norris (edge from Uconn) also signed as undrafted free agents.
All in all...I'm not terribly upset about this draft. I don't get a team with big needs taking a risk on players with injury concerns and I'm confused we didn't draft at least 1 DB....but I can't find a ton to bitch about.
Many reports I read on Nichols say he’s “athletic” and could be a good fit at 5-tech because of his length (6’4”). He has the body for it. But whatever - they need help/depth all along the D line.
It would have been nice if one of you dudes would have told me the draft was on. Why don't they tell people so they can actually watch? I must be the MOST uniformed Bears fan out there ... Damnit. I was going to impress the hell out of all of you with some cleverly and well researched football data comment.
It was on NFL network, ESPN and Fox. Fox was the best. Next year on my birthday turn on Fox and the draft will be on during prime time.
Baby, the draft will be next year, around the same time, on a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. It'll likely be in a different place. Just a heads up. Gonna reserve further commentary on this draft until I get a better chance to watch film on some of the picks. Admittedly, I failed in that pursuit this year. Looking forward to seeing what they can offer.
In a nutshell it is really no big thing they call a name and then the hosts most times gush over how good a pick it was, and many times it will probably be the last time many of these guys receive that glowing puffery of their talent.
"Glowing Puffery". Jaysus tuna, that's gold. I need to use that somewhere today ... I'm not too broken up about it quite honestly. I have no idea who any of those people are so I will content myself with cheering for a team of players who are a complete mystery to me. No big deal ...
No. Not really. I actually know how to read what is displayed on the tv screen. Can’t give enough credit to being literate.
