http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2014_07_30_chamlb_detmlb_1&mode=recap_home&c_id=det You called it Will...now you are on the "hook" to call more Tigers wins.
"Jul 30, 1994 - Detroit defeats Oakland? 14-2? as Tiger C Chad Kreuter ties a major league record with 3 sacrifice flies. He is the 9th player in history to perform the feat. " {http://www.baseballlibrary.com/chronology/byyear.php?year=1994} It should be easy to remember because so much of the 90s was easy to forget. "The Tigers Ty Cobb? Bobby Veach? and Ossie Vitt follow each other in the lineup? each going 5-for-5 in a 16-4 win over Washington. Having three players collect five hits ties the ML record for the century. Cobb also scores 5 runs for the first time Detroit's outfield has 12 hits to tie the AL record." {http://www.baseballlibrary.com/chronology/byyear.php?year=1917} As far as 1917 goes, I wasn't around until the 50th anniversary of that feat.
lol. It really was an easy call with Scherzer on the mound. Pretty cool how they beat the Tigers 11-4, so the Tigers return the favor even with a greater margin. Todays game should be fun. Tigers havnt faired well against the Central this season, time to turn that around too.
Todays game is an afternoon affair starting at 1:08. Lineups posted when available. Thursday 7/31 1:08pm Drew Smyly (L) vs. White Sox - John Danks (L) 1. Austin Jackson (R) CF 2. Ian Kinsler (R) 2B 3. Miguel Cabrera (R) 1B 4. Victor Martinez (S) DH 5. Torii Hunter (R) RF 6. J.D. Martinez (R) LF 7. Nick Castellanos (R) 3B 8. Alex Avila (L) C 9. Eugenio Suarez (R) SS 1. Adam Eaton (L) CF 2. Alexei Ramirez (R) SS 3. Jose Abreu (R) 1B 4. Dayan Viciedo (R) LF 5. Paul Konerko (R) DH 6. Gordon Beckham (R) 2B 7. Tyler Flowers (R) C 8. Moises Sierra (R) RF 9. Leury Garcia (S) 3B
Well, alright. Hunter and JD with back-to-back HR's, Tigers take the lead 4-3 headed into the 4th. Danks fastball is getting figured out.
My pleasure, Lulz and thanks. I'm waiting to see if the Tigers can land David Price. Deadline ends in 10 minutes...and I cant hold my breath that long.
Jackson to Seatle and Seatle sends someone to Tampa Bay. A 3 team deal. Bottom line; Price is a Tiger and Smyly and Jackson are gone. I liked Jackson, gonna miss him.
White Sox take the series, 7-4 final. Not like the Tigers to be around .500 at home. Glad they are road warriors this season.
http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/det...md=20140731&content_id=87236374&vkey=news_det If the Tigers don't make the WS this season, it won't be due to lack of starting pitching.
http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/det...md=20140731&content_id=87336446&vkey=news_det This is so true. Unfortunately, the Tigers bull pen is the "great equalizer" - against the Tigers. If / when the Tigers make the post season, they will need for the bats to be awake at the start of each game and for the starting pitchers to pitch deep into the game. If they do that, the Tigers can certainly make another WS appearance.
Friday 8/1 7:08pm Justin Verlander (R) vs. Rockies - Franklin Morales (L) 1. Rajai Davis (R) CF 2. Ian Kinsler (R) 2B 3. Miguel Cabrera (R) 1B 4. Victor Martinez (S) DH 5. Torii Hunter (R) RF 6. J.D. Martinez (R) LF 7. Nick Castellanos (R) 3B 8. Bryan Holaday (R) C 9. Eugenio Suarez (R) SS 1. Charlie Blackmon (L) LF 2. Corey Dickerson (L) DH 3. Nolan Arenado (R) 3B 4. Justin Morneau (L) 1B 5. Carlos Gonzalez (L) RF 6. Drew Stubbs (R) CF 7. Wilin Rosario (R) C 8. Josh Rutledge (R) SS 9. DJ LeMahieu (R) 2B
JV looks good and goes 8. He needed that. 5 consecutive outings for Nathan without giving up a run. He gets the save. 4-2, Tigers. Just passing this along in case you didnt see the game.
http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp...tebook_id=87463450&vkey=notebook_det&c_id=det I was wondering if Carrera was coming up after the Tigers traded Jackson and Dirks is in a rehab stint.

For that to happen, the bull pen will need to get better.
