I would qualify that by saying whoever would be brought in would not have listened to the Ford - Carter debates to decide for whom to vote.

I read the Tigers wont be facing Kershaw in the upcoming series with the Dodgers. Thats a shame. I would like to have seen Verlander or Scherzer counter him, but nooooooooooo.
The only consolation I have from these past four games is that the Tigers would be more likely to face the A's in the post season than the Rays. However if the Rays do make the post season, the Tigers would stand a better chance than they did during the regular season since the Tigers seem to play better against the better teams and like poo against weaker teams.
Its insane how much home run power the Rays have come up with recently. Maybe the Tigers are a bit lackadaisical at times in their approach to certain teams. Its funny in a strange way how they can handle the A's and then look horrible against the Rays.
On the bright side, the Royals lost again to the Indians, so the Tigers are still up by 4. Not bad after losing 3 straight to have not given up any ground. Didnt gain a darn thing, but hey...
Actually they eliminated 3 games with which the rest of the division has to catch them. On the flip side, they lost 3 games with which to obtain a better playoff position.

Verlander's velocity on the fastball is 90-92 mph tonight. How long has this been going on ? What has been his normal fastball mph this season ? Seems to me he was at 94-97 last year.
From what I gather, he's been losing velocity since 2011, roughly 3 mph according to a couple of company's that graph that sort of stuff. He's averaging right around 92 now which as you know is rather substantial as far as drops go. He no longer can over power batters it seems. Other big guns around the majors like Jeff Weaver are down a bit too. Its kind of a mystery. Maybe just getting older and worn out, I dont really know.
14-5 Tigers. A 20 hit attack. Sure didnt start out looking too promising. They turned things right around and in a big way.
Afternoon game today. Wednesday 7/9 1:08pm Max Scherzer (R) vs. Dodgers - Zack Greinke (R) 1. Austin Jackson (R) CF 2. Ian Kinsler (R) 2B 3. Torii Hunter (R) DH 4. J.D. Martinez (R) RF 5. You got that right. Great pitching and a big 2 out base hit. Good game. Gonna be a fun series with KC coming up. Don Kelly even got intentionally walked. He's got some bragging rights now. Gotta respect Donnie Baseball.
