You just might be correct. The Tigers pitchers try to overpower opposing batters. Teams like Texas seem to match up well against that kind of pitching (at least as far as the Tigers are concerned). Perhaps the Tigers pitchers need a little more of the "art of pitching" to complement what they do already.
...and after all this mess lately, Tigers still up by 5, Wow. AL Central Team W L Pct GB Detroit 28 19 .596 - Chi White Sox 26 27 .491 5 Kansas City 24 25 .490 5 Minnesota 23 25 .479 5.5 Cleveland 24 28 .462 6.5
Valverde went from hero to zero in a short period of time. He really hasnt had it ever since that fantastic season in Detroit. That guy was a nut, tho. He could get the job done, but always took the long way home and was rather frightening most of the time.

Joe does things the hard way. Good job by Porcello. Tigers gain a split with Oakland on the road. Considering their recent struggles, I'll gladly take it. 5-4, final.
http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on...ss-is-a-threat-to-undermine-powerhouse-tigers Just following the end of today's 5-4 victory put me on "pins and needles." Joe Nathan is used to being hard on the Tigers. Now he needs to change and be hard on the Tigers' opponents.
Agreed! Many people needed that win. Max Scherzer was not bad but he wasn't what Tigers fans were used to seeing. That makes Justin and Max still off their game. Drew Smyly is still developing. Anibal and Rick are starting to turn around recent Tiger starting pitching woes. Now Justin and Max need to get back to form and the Tigers can get back to being a more dominant team.
