Tigers take 3 out of 4 from the Astros, winning yet another series. Twins in town. Cant take them lightly, or they will hand you your hat. They can still hit, although, they may be without Joe Mauer for the entire 3 game series against Detroit. Looks like the weather is going to have the last word tonight, as rain and storms are in the forecast.

7th inning stretch - Don Kelly robbed Suzuki of a HR with a great catch, and he also has a couple of hits. Miguel Cabrera hit his 5th HR, a 3-run shot. 6-3 Tigers going into the bottom of the 7th. Great weather for a baseball game...wish I was there.
When Justin Verlander pitches, he loses 3-2, 2-1, 1-0. When Max Scherzer pitches he wins 12-4, 9-3, 7-5. The Tigers just seem to score more runs for Max. I don't know if there is a stat that tracks Runs For vs Runs Against but it would be interesting to see how much more support Scherzer gets.
http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2014_05_10_minmlb_detmlb_1&mode=recap_home&c_id=det I wonder if Jim was thinking that it would have been nice to have had a few more of these "Jim Leyland Days" when he was managing - especially in the post season.
There seems to be stats for everything you could possibly dream up on 'Baseball Reference .com'...so I looked it up. So far this season it hasnt been as bad as it seems for JV. Actually, Verlander gets more run support/IP at 4.6 runs/outing, compared to Scherzer at 3.1 runs/IP. I dont think its always been like that, but so far this season JV is getting a little more run support than Max. I would have never have guessed that. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/DET/2014-pitching.shtml

Is this cool, or what? No Tigers starter has allowed more than three earned runs in any start since Rick Porcello allowed four on April 25. Six Tigers starters have combined for a 2.28 ERA during that 12-game stretch.
Sunday 5/11 1:08pm Robbie Ray (L) vs. Twins - Samuel Deduno (R) 1. Ian Kinsler (R) 2B 2. Torii Hunter (R) RF 3. Miguel Cabrera (R) 1B 4. Victor Martinez (S) DH 5. Don Kelly (L) 3B 6.
