Nathan is going to be steady and I think Jobba will do well, he just needs to settle in. AA has fantastic stuff, he's just so inconsistent, especially since he was injured a year or so back. I like the Coke is a joke line. After a good Spring, I thought he had turned things around...but, noooo. He was hitting 91 consistently on the gun, but he must have some issues upstairs (i can relate) that are keeping him off his mark. Come to think of it, that could be an issue also, just throwing 91mph all the time. Maybe he doesnt know how to adjust and change things up a bit...after all its about pitching, not just throwing it up there, and that seems to be what he's doing. I dont know anything about Reed, or if thats his real name, but he did OK for a while. A trade may be forced to find more help in the middle relief area, or these bully's are going to come in and promptly give it all away, and with the window of opportunity being right now, they cant afford to let that happen. Maybe there is some youngster like Below and the gang in Toledo that are going to start getting some looks in the pen, idk.
the tigers' bullpen has been the reason they have failed to win a world series for several years running now, and i see little so far to make me think anything but the names and uniform numbers have changed.
STARTING PITCHERS Detroit Tigers Justin Verlander, RHP (0-0, 3.00 ERA) Lifetime vs. Orioles: 8-1, 3.26 ERA. Baltimore Orioles Chris Tillman, RHP (0-0, 1.80 ERA) Lifetime vs. Tigers: 2-0, 4.30 ERA. STARTING LINEUPS (Batters' career statistics vs. opposing starting pitcher) Detroit Tigers 1. Ian Kinsler, 2B (4 for 12, 1 HR) 2. Torii Hunter, RF 3. Miguel Cabrera, DH (4 for 9, 1 HR) 4. Victor Martinez, 1B (2 for 6) 5. Austin Jackson, CF (2 for 9) 6. Tyler Collins, LF 7. Nick Castellanos, 3B 8. Bryan Holaday, C (1 for 2) 9. Andrew Romine, SS
Thats a great point and a horrible problem to have. The teams that have won it have had the pitching in the middle that for the most part can shut people down...the Tigers havnt. They must see this themselves. What and if there is anything they can or are going to do remains to be seen. They tried to address the issue with additions to the team, its just not working right now. There probably saying to themselves, its early, lets see what happens. Maybe the plan is to slug their way into the Series and win it. I know one thing. If the bullpen figures their shitt out, I will really become quite a lot more confident Untill then, Im not going to be able to breath as soon as the starter is yanked, regardless of the score. Prime example...yesterdays game. This might be something that needs a little more time too.
It played a part but I blame injuries and 20 million dollar players that bat .118 as much as anything. Hell even Coke was nails a couple years back. You have a healthy Miggy, VMart and Fatty motivated they would have a ring. But many teams over the years can say 'if only.....'

Tuesday 4/8 10:10pm Max Scherzer (R) @ Dodgers - Dan Haren (R) 1. Rajai Davis (R) LF 2. Ian Kinsler (R) 2B 3. Torii Hunter (R) RF 4. Miguel Cabrera (R) 3B 5. Victor Martinez (S) 1B 6. Victor Martinez singled in the tying run with two outs in the ninth, but the Dodgers scored in the 10th to win the game. Dodgers 3, Tigers 2, 10 innings: Phil Coke surrenders game-winning double to Carl Crawford. This really has to be addressed and right now. I know its early, but these early games are important and can and usually do come back to bite you in the long run. Hey, Toledo...send help now!
LMAO. coke was nails once? so was your boy prince. go ahead and blame him for the world series loss to the cardinals while you're at it. look, i get it. u don't like prince. but that doesn't change the fact that the tigers have had a bullpen that flat out sucks for several years now.
Wednesday 4/9 10:10pm Anibal Sanchez (R) @ Dodgers - Josh Beckett (R) 1. Rajai Davis (R) LF 2. Ian Kinsler (R) 2B 3. Miguel Cabrera (R) 1B 4. Victor Martinez (S) C 5. Austin Jackson (R) CF 6. Nick Castellanos (R) 3B 7. Tyler Collins (L) RF 8. Alex Gonzalez (R) SS 9. Anibal Sanchez (R) P 1. Dee Gordon (L) 2B 2. Carl Crawford (L) LF 3. Hanley Ramirez (R) SS 4. Adrian Gonzalez (L) 1B 5. Andre Ethier (L) RF 6. Matt Kemp (R) CF 7. Juan Uribe (R) 3B 8. Tim Federowicz (R) C 9. Josh Beckett (R) Torii Hunter off nursing a sore knee...he's fine, just getting two days rest.
No wonder Carl Crawford was saying before his at-bat "Have a Coke and a Smile." I personally believe that the "h" is in the wrong place Phil Coke --> Pill Choke cause he is a "pill" because he "chokes". *WALL*
I believe your on to something there. He's just too hittable right now and that makes things difficult if your asked to come in and shut things down. I hope he and they get this straightened out. Im sure their working on it. Location, location, location.
Tigers in San Diego tonight. Pitching line...Det: R. Porcello (1-0, 1.35 ERA), SD: A. Cashner (0-1, 2.25 ERA). Rick with a 1.35, thats probably going to change, but its nice to see him start off on the right foot. Cashner is pretty decent too, should be a good game.
Hope your right. Its gotta be nice for him too, to have a defense behind him that can get to the ground balls...more range back there will help him a great deal, especially if he's on his game and getting those ground balls.
Friday 4/11 10:10pm Rick Porcello (R) @ Padres - Andrew Cashner (R) 1. Rajai Davis (R) LF 2. Ian Kinsler (R) 2B 3. Miguel Cabrera (R) 3B 4. Victor Martinez (S) 1B 5. Austin Jackson (R) CF 6. Don Kelly (L) RF 7. Alex Avila (L) C 8. Andrew Romine (S) SS 9. Rick Porcello (R) P I dont see Torii. Hope that knees OK.
Cashner and the Padres whipped the Tigers...Padres 6, Tigers 0: Detroit finishes with just one hit, 11 strikeouts in first shutout loss of season. Happens sometimes. Cabrera really struggling with the bat. Says he's got to work on his swing. Those who should know are saying its not a matter of his health, he's just fine. In my opinion, his timing probably needs tweeked from getting a lot of junk pitches early on. He'll be OK, and then, watch out!
