The Detroit Tigers were held without a home run for nearly 60 innings this spring. Nick Castellanos ended that power outage with one monstrous swing Monday. Tigers win 8-5 over the Cards.

 

Peralta hit two today and fatty got one in his 2nd AB. Unlike Holland I have the utmost confidence in DBrow. hes easily the best GM in the game. If he thinks we got it Im all in. GO TIGERS!!!!

Tigers fall to the Pirates 5-2 today.

 

Too early to start hearing this junk, but...Tigers outfielder Andy Dirks is expected to miss at least 12 weeks following back surgery, the team announced.

Dirks had been slated to platoon with free agent signing Rajai Davis in left field, taking most of the playing time as the left-handed-hitting option, so his injury opens the door for Davis to take on a bigger portion of the starts.

Davis brings a ton of speed to the table and is a plus defender in left field, but he hasn?t shown the ability to hit right-handed pitching consistently. Dirks, meanwhile, is a career .278 hitter with a .751 OPS versus righties.

Verlander goes today. Im going to be very interested in how he fairs. Almost the A lineup, and Im just guessing, but i would think Castellanos would be at third opening day. Glad to see Iglesias back in the lineup also. Nice if the Tigers could find the power switch, and flip it to the 'on' position, and crank everything to 10.

 

...and JV's first start will have to wait. Rained out.

Spring Training for the managers too. Ausmus gave the wrong sign from the dugout and it lead to a walk-off balk. Thats right, a balk-off. Tigers get beat by the Yankees 3-2. Tigers 3-3-1 on the Spring.

Question: Should we be concerned over the lack of Tigers power so far? Their not hitting HR's this Spring. What do you think?
