Me too. That deal was a steal and shored up a nice spot in the Pen. Should be a great set-up guy with some spot closing if Benoit starts serving up the long balls again (or needs a day). This team is really starting to come together nicely. Tigers can throw out a nice combo of lefties and righties in relief, very nice option to have.

It all boiled down to them getting some pitching, cat, and they are right now. Indians just came off a streak of 26 innings without giving up a run. Tigers get the weekend sweep, Indians get one also. I think a race is good, makes it more exciting this time of year. I think Cleveland and Detroit play each other coming up soon too. That should be a good series, for sure.
yeah - but with detroit's lineup and pitching, you would think they win 100 games easy. i mean fielder, peralta with a nice year, the triple crown winner, verdy, max etc.

Since early May, Gio Gonzalez and Justin Verlander have been headed in opposite directions. Gonzalez has a 2.20 ERA over 15 starts, while since May 16, Verlander owns a 5.21 mark over 14 outings. They'll meet Wednesday at Comerica Park if it doesnt get rained out. Game time is scheduled for 1:08. I understand Miguel Cabrera has tweeked his injury again and it is minor, but still bothering him. He dove for a ball while playing at 3rd base last night and suffered a slight strain. A game time decision, I assume.
Peavy heads to the Red Sox, infielder Jose Iglesias goes to the Tigers and outfielder Avisail Garcia is headed to the White Sox. The Tigers are also sending the Red Sox reliever Brayan Villarreal. Iglesias, 23, is hitting .330/.377/.410 with 10 doubles, two triples, 1 homer, 19 RBI, 27 runs and three stolen bases this season. He's probably insurance for Peralta who is rumored to be suspended soon because of his conections with the biogenesis scandal.
Miguel Cabrera out of the starting lineup Wednesday as he is recuperating from an abdominal strain he aggravated Tuesday night. I hope he's just day to day. Miggy getting banged up lately.
