Surprising to me too. Trammell was ranked in the top 10 and Whitaker at 13th all time is pretty good stuff. You would be hard pressed to find a better 2nd and shortstop dual, than Tram & Lou. Members of World Series winning team and steady up the middle for all those years, and they cant get in... I dont get it. Its supposed to be the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of numbers or stats. I hope these writers that have the privalege of voting, get their act together. Tigers haters, or something.

theres a reason hes in the puerto rican league, he had a couple good years but he throws soft and if he doesnt pinpoint his pitches he gets lit up. hes nothing special. Id much rather have Fister back
I think we still have a good chance to get back but this team lost more than it gained in the offseason. it appears now that DBrow put all his eggs in the Choo basket and that backfired. I really expected more this offseason, unless they think freeing up money will get Max to return I dont see the logic he had this offseason. Boras is a douche and I really expect him to have max test the market. for the Tigers to get back a few things need to happen IMO - Castellanos has to learn how to limit his mistakes at the hot corner and do it in short order, he also needs to show the 5 tool package Ive heard so much about and especially in the power dept -Dirks/Davis platoon needs to have career years, I think this is a big if. Dirks needs a .280, 20, 60 type of year -VMart needs to stay healthy to give the protection Cabby will sorely need -Hunter needs to be solid again and at his age he may not -Kinsler also needs to get back to the 2011 form. if he hits for average and stays healthy(big if) and learns to be a doubles hitter then there will be no shortfall at 2nd. he left one of the best hitters parks to one that isnt. Big adjustment for him at 31 - AJ needs to go down in the order and maybe take the stress of leading off and maybe he puts up some real good numbers. hes a good player and is capable of .300, 20-25, 80 rbis and 20+ steals. thats solid -Rondon needs to mature and stay healthy. hes got everything talent wise but hes gonna be asked to do a lot more -I really dont like losing Smyly out of the pen, hope he does good at starting. having a lefty like him in the pen was huge to me I might be asking a lot but I think these things need to happen for the Tigs to succeed. and I havent even mentioned we have a rookie coach that brings just as many questions. we dont know what we have with Ausmus
Well Cutter, another solid post from you. I appreciate your input. I think all the things you mentioned places the hammer square on the head of the nail, and the things you covered are exactly what the orginization is probably banking on. I think that if 80% of those issues come to fruition the Tigers are going to do very well in their chances of staying on top of the Central. Their going to have to really jell as a team and pick up the slack for one another, and thats where good leadership and managing on Brad's part is going to be esential. What do you think of Torii batting behind Cabrera? Do you think he could handle the pressure and maybe slide Martinez to 5th. Im not banking on V-Mart staying healthy all season, and I hope im wrong, but someone is going to have to step up big time, because their going to get pitched to. I can see it now...Cabrera getting nothing to hit and then the clean-up spot being almost automatic for an out. Thats my worst nightmare.
I think its a hitters dream and Im sure even at 39 Hunter could put up numbers like he did 6 or seven years ago. I dont think its a bad idea but I think hes more suited to batting 2nd. let kinsler set the table and Hunter is good at making something happen afterwards. VMart batting cleanup is ideal. hes only going to DH and you want to mazimize guys that only bat and VMart is a very smart hitter. Hes not only good at making contact but he doesnt swing at bad pitches or waste at bats like fatty did....all the time. Guys on first and 2nd fatty grounds or pops out. when the bases are empty he hits a double. im amazed he got 100 RBI's last year. hes was terrible. VMart also has underrated power, I think his power after Cabbys is the best on the team so seeing as we never got another thumper I say leave Vmart in the 4th slot and keep Hunter in the 2nd In all honesty this is a concern but this I dont worry too much about like I said VMart will not waste his opportunites and pitchers know he can beat them in more than one way. I think if he just DH's he'll stay healthy. I expect a big year out of him. I still wanted Beltran behind Cabby but no sense in whining about it all year. If VMart goes down were in trouble that is a concern, that happens and it changes the whole lineup dynamic. Im keeping my fingers crossed
Lou Whitaker does not endorse former teammate Jack Morris for the Hall of Fame. So, the arguments continue. Im still not sure what I think personally, and Im not to sure Lou's argument is as valid of a one to use. But, you could just throw all of them in the Hall and be done with it.
In the previous 14 classes, former Tigers star Jack Morris fell short of the 75 percent of the vote needed for induction into the Hall of Fame. He'll find out Wednesday if he's struck out one last time. After all the denials, I dont see why he will get in this time either. He must not have very many friends in the voting establishment.
