Miguel Cabrera: 'I've told the Tigers I want to play first base'

    http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on...ive-told-the-tigers-i-want-to-play-first-base

"Moving Cabrera back to first at this point of his career makes an awful lot of sense for both him and the team. The Tigers have the option to pursue a veteran third baseman or go with the kid, or they could get creative and move several people around. That flexibility is something they didn't have at all two weeks ago."

If it helps the Tigers to win the World Series, I'm all for it. In addition, Nick Castellanos' best position is 3rd base and Miggy plays a decent 1st base.

Nobody could be happier than Nick with the news of Miggy going back to 1st base. Will be interesting to see what kind of production Castellanos can bring on a regular basis. Been hearing alot about him and seen him play a few times...the Tigers are going to be better defensively, wich Im sure the pitchers are just fine with. :)

The Detroit Tigers and Florida Marlins have an interest in Mark Ellis.

    http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/detroit_tigers/

I don't know much about Ellis so I don't have an opinion. Does anyon have an opinion on whether this is a good or bad move?

  6. I dont want him, for what were paying Kinsler hes getting all the at bats his brittle body can handle. Ellis is more suited to national league at this point in his career. hes a soft hitting guy with decent speed and glove. rather have Santiago or one of the kids be on the bench for utility purposes. im still trying to figure out why Wilson and/or Nathan havent been signed. Torii Hunter was recruiting Nathan and they said he wanted to come here and Wilson was in serious negotiations last week and now nothing. we get those two and look out. Im hoping for Beltran too to give us our leftfielder, add some more punch to the lineup and give us that postseason monster. hed be an excellent fit here

    http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on...ort-nationals-acquire-doug-fister-from-tigers

The Tigers wanted to get Drew Smyly in the rotation and Fister's departure frees up some cash. The rotation looks like Justin Verlander (RH) - Max Scherzer (RH) - Anibal Sanchez (RH) - Rick Porcello (RH) - Drew Smyly (LH).

No one can accuse Dave Dombrowski and the Tigers of being afraid to make changes.

You got that right. If a deal is needed DD doesnt hesitate lately. That trade caught me standing sideways...didnt expect that at all, but it makes sense. Still waiting for the power hitting lefty, and the closer deals to be made.

Lombardozzi is a second baseman/left fielder who is a switch hitter. He has hit .264 with a .639 OPS in three seasons in the majors with the Nationals.

Krol, a left-handed reliever, went 2-1 with a 3.95 ERA and a 1.317 WHIP for the Nationals in 32 games in 2013, his first season in the majors. Krol has 246 strikeouts in 274 1/3 innings in the minors.

Ray, a left-handed starter, is 17-20 with a 4.29 ERA and a 1.356 WHIP in four seasons in the minors.

Tigers agree to a 2 year deal with Nathan. Nathan will provide the Tigers with a surefire, experienced closer that they did not have on the roster in 2013. He went 6-2 with a 1.39 ERA, 43 saves and a 0.897 WHIP for the Texas Rangers in 2013. Nathan has 341 career saves in 13 seasons with the San Francisco Giants, Minnesota Twins and Rangers.

Awesome, I like it. One more signing and the Tigers are set up big time. Well...they look pretty good already. :)

  12. yes they do, and as soon as some moron was willing to take fattys contract I knew this would be nothing but a good summer. not to split hairs here but Coke was another guy I wanted gone really bad but whatever. If I see Bondo on next years roster.......well Ill wait to see if that happens but it wont be pretty. outside of losing Infante who I really liked this has been a great winter for the Tigs and DBrow isnt even done. Ill post this in the dugout but Beltran is meeting w the Royals today. Thats my next target

I thought that Beltran was the Tigers top target. However, according to the article, Choo is the priority - performing well enought that the Tigers "cannot beat him so they will join him."

  14. Willie Head Coach Manager News & Notes Vikings

Choo would sure be a great addition, and would fill the needs at the leadoff position and the outfield, but he is real expensive. Might be too rich for even Illitch's blood, I dont know.

Tigers still need a power bat to hit behind Cabrera, a .300, RBI type, and I think they go that route before all is said and done.

If they went into the season with the lineup they have right now...who would you guy's like to see hit behind Cabrera?

  19. thats what he said before they signed Fielder. I call BS, no way he comes out of the winter meetings without a LFder. I will say if he gets Choo Im gonna be pissed. that guy outside of being an OPS machine and being solid defensively is not worth even close to what hes demanding. Im still saying Beltran, if you have to give him the 3 yr contract he wants then do it. thats the final piece to me. make it happen DBrow. I also say Samardzija is available and Zito is a freebie. two guys that have to be on your radar

From what DD has said, I dont think Benoit will even be a Tiger next season. Rondon will probably be the set-up guy in the 8th inning. Tigers get any positive production out of middle relief, and they will be realy tough to beat, especialy if they can get the lead early on in games.
