He basically created and signed his own pink slip by saying those things. Maybe when you pay somebody $214 million bucks you might want a little more thought in choosing your statements to the media, let alone production on the field when it realy counts. I was a fan of his and hoped it could have worked out...it just didnt.
I read a report on mlive, the Tigers would listen to trade offers for CF Austin Jackson. Very interesting. Maybe bring in Choo, or a Beltran type. Nothing would surprise me now.
Miguel Cabrera seems really torn up about the Prince Fielder trade Although Cabrera and Fielder only spent two seasons together in Detroit, they apparently grew very close. Based on his Twitter feed, Cabrera seems to be taking the team-imposed break-up pretty hard. Earlier on Thursday, the slugger went on a photo posting/retweeting spree: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on...really-torn-up-about-the-prince-fielder-trade This is not the news I wanted to hear. I hope that Miggy gets over the Bromance quickly. Or is it Bro-ar-mance?
The Cardinals might make a good fit for Peralta. He would be a regular and they could always use his bat. Could patrol the outfield also. I hope he does well.
I agree. The window doesnt stay open for very long. I think if their going to win it all , it may have to happen during the 2014 season. You can have all the money in the world and still not have all the pieces it takes to win it all. I think the Tigers have that collection of players and the right chemistry to do it now. They will have those arms together for just one more season, imo. So, I think your right. I also think Mr. D knows this and the Tigers arnt done yet, but theur close in putting out the best team they possibly can to take the most advantage of this opportunity to win it all now. Still need a power lefty in the lineup and some bullpen stuff.
Good grief. The Tigers are reportedly in serious negotiations with free-agent reliever Brian Wilson, who met with Tigers manager Brad Ausmus in Los Angeles on Sunday. IF he becomes the Tigers closer, all he has to do is get saves, and I'll be just fine with that nut.
If the Tigers sign Wilson, will we be expected to get "beards" like we got Sheffield's Chef Hat? http://www.listia.com/auction/7778228-2008-gary-sheffield-detroit-tigers-chef
i have no opinion here, as i just don't follow baseball that closely. would u guys prefer nathan or wilson?
Well, I am leaning towards Nathan. Either or, wouldnt bother me much. I just think its really important to get a closer of top notch caliber, and then move Benoit back to the set-up position in the 8th. I lean towards Nathan because he's coming off a decent season and if healthy, I think he still has another potentialy good season left in the tank.
As you have stated, the key is to move Joaquin Benoit back to set-up. This will greatly enhance the Tigers bullpen performance. As far as Joe Nathan or Brian Wilson, I don't have a preference between the two.
I want to wish all Tigers fans a very Happy Thanksgiving and next year a very Happy Thanksgiving in Tigers' World Champions gear.
