Miguel Cabrera told ESPN Deportes, that he wants to finish his baseball career with the Tigers. Im glad the 'Big Fella' likes playing in Detroit and wants to stay.
Pretty crazy. I didn't think anybody would take on that contract. I would have to imagine the Tigers are eating some part of Fielder's contract. Now my only question is if they are to resign Infante, does he play 3rd while Miggy goes back to 1st? Or do you keep Miggy at 3rd, where he has really seemed to settle in, and bring in somebody to play 1st.
http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/...etroit-tigers-prince-fielder-hot-stove-112013 I have the feeling that this will work out for both teams.
Far freaking out... I get up at 4:30am to see all these posts and thought I was dreaming still. What a deal, and thanks for all the posts guy's. No way did I ever think this would happen. I like prince and hope the best for him. Kinsler is a fantastic addition...going to be interesting to see how he can do. Good to see the Tigers are still playing hardball. Its a mean business, and they mean business.
Let me introduce you to Ian Kinsler: * Kinsler is signed through 2017, making $16 million per season in 2014 and 2015, $14 million in 2016 and $11 million in 2017. There's a $12 million team option for 2018 with a $5 million buyout. * He's hit 156 home runs in eight seasons, including 31 in 2009 and 32 in 2011. In 2013, Kinsler hit 13 homers, his fewest since hitting nine in an injury-shortened 2010 (103 games). * Kinsler has 172 career stolen bases, with his two 30-steal seasons coinciding with his two 30-home run seasons. His 15 stolen bases in 2013 were his second fewest in a full season. * He's a three-time All-Star (2008, 2010, 2012) and finished in the top 26 of the MVP moving three times, including 11th in 2011. Kinsler was seventh in the AL Rookie of the Year voting in 2006. * Kinsler is a career .273 hitter. His only season batting over .300 came in 2008 (.319) and he hit .255 and .256 in 2011 and 2012, respectively, before batting .277 last season. * For his career, Kinsler is No. 1 in stolen bases (172) and hit by pitches (57) for the Rangers, and was fifth in runs (748), seventh in doubles (249) and walks (462), eighth in home runs (156), and ninth in hits (1,145) and RBIs (539). Not bad at all...
For the record...Fielder didnt demand a trade from the Tigers. He optioned his no trade clause and decided to get a fresh start in Texas. Sure is going to be a lot of lineup changes and defensive positioning changes for the Tigers. Should be interesting, to say the least. Sure hope Castellanos is ready for the majors on a consistent, everyday level. Here's his chance to shine in a big way.
kinsler's been banged up a little. he is getting less money than fielder but still a lot of coin. and $30 mil to the tigers. they gotta be doing the Irish Jig right now. No more Fielder for 8 yrs and $30 mil in their bank account. Where do I sign for that deal ?
The Tigers are sending 30 million along with Fielder to the Rangers. Doing that saves the Tigers roughly 72 million in contract cash. Thats the difference in savings between the two contract tearms.
for $30 mil will - GO BUY SOMEONE! haha! i thought fielder and miggy were tight? i guess it was time to split them up.
Coke finished the 2013 season at 0-5 with a 5.40 ERA, with 30 strikeouts and 21 walks over 38 1/3 innings pitched. So, the Tigers avoided arbitration with him and signed Phil to a 1 year contract. I have no details on the cash figures.
WOW-how did he know this? Report: Fielder?s Comments After Final Game May Have Played Role In Trade After Game 6 of the ALCS, Detroit Tigers slugger Prince Fielder said, ?It?s not really tough for me. It?s over, bro.? In hindsight, those words look an awful lot like foreshadowing. That statement by Fielder, along with some other interesting comments, may have contributed to his departure from Detroit, according to USA Today baseball writer Bob Nightengale. Fielder also presented a big-picture perspective that fans did not necessarily appreciate. ?You got to be a man about it, you know?? Fielder said. ?I got kids, like I said. If I?m sitting around pouting how am I going to tell them to keep their chins up or keep their heads up when something doesn?t go their way? So, yeah, definitely it?s over. ?You shouldn?t take your work home with you, you know,? Fielder added. ?I still have to be a father and take care of my kids, so you have to move on.? After Detroit Tigers slugger Prince Fielder?s disappointing performance in the 2013 postseason, many called for the $214 million man to be traded. Few believed it could actually happen. Even Tigers ace Justin Verlander (and brother Ben) voiced surprise on Twitter.
