This (keep Scherzer and the staff together and address the bullpen issues) will be key to making a run at the AL pennant. And please post Tigers off-season news.
for the old folks among us, who remember 1968... We're all behind our baseball team go get em, Tigers! Offseason bound and pickin up steam go get em, Tigers! There'll be joy in Tigertown, we'll sing you songs when Prince brings home the smorgasbord where it belongs We're all behind our baseball team go get em Detroit Tigers go get em, Tigers! but seriously, in the words of Al Ackerman: Bless you, boys.
You got it...and thanks for stopping by, dont be a stranger. What the Tigers are going to do with Scherzer is going to very interesting. Some 'experts' say his going to be dealt. I dont like that idea one bit. The bullpen is needing addressed big time too, got to be able to hold games for this excellent staff.
will---you say the bullpen, but where was fielder when you needed him? how many close games were there? seems like the offense ran out of gas again.
Cant argue with the offense running out of gas thing, especially with Fielder's post-season bug, and I might add, Fielder wasnt the only guy struggling, and the Tigers faced some pretty good pitching themselves...but, it seems to be an ongoing thing, that the bullpen cant keep the 'holds' when their given the ball. Last year and this year, it has been a problem that when the starters get a lead and shut the opponents down, someone comes in from the pen and gives up the long ball. Benoit and Coke, for example. IMO, the Tigers just lack that shut-down, go to guy, that can set up the closer and nail things down. The Tigers need a legitemate closer also, imo...Benoit was just a converted set-up guy. Anyway, I just wish the quality of the relief guy's could compliment the outstanding starting pitching just a bit more...gotta win those close games if your going to win it all. $0.02
Damn...thats bad, and sad, but I almost expected it. I liked Leyland. He could drive me nuts alot of times, but he was a good one. What worries me is, who's going to step in. I nominate Gibson.
Leyland with tears, said; "Im not retiring from the Tigers, Im just not going to be in the dugout". He also said he wasnt sure what that position would be right now, but he will remain in the orginization doing something.
Wow I just heard. Very v Busy at work but I had to post something. Thanks for everything Jim u were and r a class act. I don't know that tiger fans realize how much you really meant to this town and the team. Sorry to see him go. Thanks again Jim and best wishes
grade 2 or 3 Will, that guy is a trooper in every sense of the word. too bad he never rubbed off on fatty
They didnt say in the report I saw. Requires surgery is all I could tell. That kind of injury would have side-lined the average joe, for sure. Trooper is right. I hear anything further or reports of when and how the surgery goes, you know I'll post it. Knowing Cabrera, he wont even use any gas for his surgery. I cant believe he was running around like that...the guy is crazy.
So, who would you guy's like to step in and skipper the Tigers? Got any idea's? Some of the names Ive been hearing are almost comical, and down right scary. Ive heard Gibson, Lamont, McClendon, Brad Ausmus, Tuvello, and even Dusty Baker. Im not over-whelmed with any of these guy's out-side of Gibson, whom the GM of the Diamondbacks, said Gibby was going nowhere. I cant really come up with anyone myself. Maybe someone from with in, like Lamont or McClendon, might not be a bad idea. I just dont know. Sure hope they land the right guy for the job...this Tigers team has a boat load of talent and needs someone the players rally behind, and respect. A great motivator. Who could that be?
scotty bowman wasn't a nice guy? im from philly, so i never heard that before. i doubt he's as bas as larussa. i mean, the guy fell asleep drunk at a stop sign!
