Casey Mize got off the pad with 7 scoreless innings for his first MLB win, and Detroit rocketed three homers. Tigers are 4-6... good for last, but only 1.5 out. Tonight...
Rain forced the postponement of Tuesday's series opener against the Pirates, which will be held as part of a split doubleheader on Wednesday. The games will be held at 2:10 and 6:40 p.m. ET.
Indians continue familiar theme with the come from behind win over Tigers, 6-5. Jordan Luplow with game saving catch. Cleveland's record vs Detroit since 2019: 30-6!
Apologies for posting that here, but this is really the only active MLB thread that I know of....We have Detroit's number right now, but it hasn't always been like that. FTR, I rooted for Sparky's 1984 team in the WS....Congrats on that btw. Something I've still never seen my team accomplish....Losing in 95,97 and 2016 was brutal. I know Tigers fans felt the pain back in 06 and 2012, but at least ya have a modern era title. Having a championship that, people whom are still alive, can remember, is a big deal in my book.
I was born in 87 so I’ve unfortunately yet to see one. I’ve seen the worst of the worst (2004) and am still waiting for the best of the best even though they’ve been close.
No apologies necessary. I was happy to see someone drop by to be frank and the record the Indians have against the Tigers is sic! Congrats on that accomplishment... Cleveland down-right owns Detroit, lol. Its remarkable if you stop and think about that record of 30-6... truly phenominal.
1984 was magical... its about the only thing I remember from that era, lol. Speaking of era, in '84 I bought a real Tigers ballcap made by the Dupont New Era Hat company at sears. Today it is ripped, faded and out of shape, but from time to time I can still rock it. Baseball is my link in the chain to get me to the football season... love going up to the ball park from time to time, but its been a while. By the way... Been to Cleveland to see the Indians play several times. Saw the Indians and Yankees play a DH one weekend... Reggie Jackson was right in front of me the whole game... I was a star-struck kid, lol. (Cleveland Municipal)
The best thing about those days, in regards to Cleveland Baseball, was that you could literally park right next to where the players parked. lol! Nobody went to Municipal Stadium, ever....unless of course there was some sort of ticket giveaway.
In all honesty, my first baseball love was The Big Red Machine.....My dad converted me over to a Tribe fan in the 80's, and I never looked back.
I still like the Reds... I guess they are my favorite NL team. My dad used to drive us down to Riverfront Stadium back in the 70's... watching the Big Red Machine was awesome. Johnny Bench, Pete Rose, Concepcion, Joe Morgan just to name a few. We were extremely poor as I grew up (but I never knew it) and our family vacations were a day trip to Cleveland, Detroit or Cinncy to catch a Sunday baseball game. Those are cherrished and probably the best memories I have as a kid. Now... maybe one of these days Im going to Minnesota or Cleveland and see my beloved Vikings play. A Vikings Browns SB would be a dream come true, lol.
Yes it would! I'd love to go see the Browns/Vikings in Minnesota this year. That new Vikings stadium looks awesome. Same here. We lived equal distance between Cincinnati and Cleveland, and once or twice a season, my dad would take me to whichever MLB game I wanted to go to. I always chose Cincinnati when I was young, for several reasons. The Reds were a WS caliber team. One of the greatest teams of all time, and Riverfront Stadium atmosphere was amazing. Cincy is still a great baseball town. And let's face it, the Indians were not good back then. The atmosphere couldn't have been any more different. There's a reason the Tribe couldn't draw more than 7000 fans to a game. And in that huge old 80,000 seat stadium, it seemed like there was about 12 people in attendance.... Another reason was because we used to go to Clearwater Beach, Florida every spring break, and the Reds spring training games were right there. That was a lot of fun too. I still have a picture from when I was about 7 years old, and Johnny Bench picked me up so my dad could get a photo. Very cool in the eyes of an impressionable young lad... These days I usually get to at least one game a year, and it's almost always a Reds vs Indians game. Fun times regardless of which city.
