Wow. That was some kind of game. 6 walks, 1 hit and a Tigers 1-0 win. A no-no into the 9th? Crazy. Great win on the road...we will take it. Its nice to see that good pitching can shut those guys down, they have been scoring lots of runs lately. So, the Tigers take game 1 with Scherzer and Verlander on the shelf, I like it.
Game 2 is tonight...Max Scherzer against Clay Buckholz in a battle of righties. Game is on FOX at 8pm et.
Id call that a nice recovery game from Sanchez. Lights out in every sense of the word, absolutely awesome game. I love the pitchers duels especially when we come out on top. those were video game numbers from our staff, way to go boys. hats off to Peralta - Again, where would we be if he wasnt in the lineup. hes come through time and time again. GO TIGERS!!
He sure has come up with some unbelievable hits. You never know with the Tigers whos going to step up at any given time, and they have so many players that can too. I wonder what he has planned for an encore?
good stuff. and let's not overlook the fact that the only run was scored by the mostest awesomer base runner on either team *THUMBSUP*
Game 2 ALCS lineup for the Tigers...Boston's not available yet; 1. Austin Jackson (R) CF 2. Torii Hunter (R) RF 3. Miguel Cabrera (R) 3B 4. Prince Fielder (L) 1B 5. Victor Martinez (S) DH 6. Jhonny Peralta (R) SS 7. Alex Avila (L) C 8. Omar Infante (R) 2B 9. Don Kelly (L) LF[/*] Detroit loading up on the hitters, and JP at SS, very interesting.
"Max Scherzer should be the No. 1 star. He deserved it, considering he took a no-hitter and a 5-0 lead into the sixth inning. But the Tigers' bullpen blew it." Next 3 in Detroit with the series tied at 1 game a piece. Loses like that are sure hard to take. I still dont believe it.
talk about the wheels falling off? jesus. it's ok detroit. they needed all the luck in the world to win game 2. take 3 & 4 at home!
Ill try and make it Will. wheres the chat? a few things on last nights game. obviously my shocked face has been on for two days. this wasnt Leylands fault like I keep hearing. Max was gassed and he gave it everything. he aired it out in the 7th and you could tell. I do have a problem with not leaving the lefty Veres in. they went to the well too early and it cost them. leave Veres in let him face Ellsbury and then you get the matchup you want with Pedroia. Smyly and Benoit cost us that game. I really point the finger at Benoit and Dombrowski. my reason is DBrow knew from day one we neede a closer and he gets the worst team in the leagues closer, whos marginal at best in that spot. then if you want to run with Benoit you better be sure hes not gonna hang a changeup/meatball in a spot like that. off speed was what he needed to do, you dont gas it with Ortiz but you never, EVER hang one to the one guy in that lineup that will make you pay. in a nutshell Benoit and Smyly sucked my ball sac last night and may have cost us the series with that performance. you need 6 outs and waste a masterful performance by Max with AAA crap. pathetic and inexcuseable. you gave that game away and had you won being up 2-0 coming home for three......well get that fat lady warming up especially with JV taking the bump game 3. Smyly and Benoit didnt do their jobs - flat out, that loss to me rests on them
Have you tried this? http://steel-n-ice.com/games/livegames/gametalk.htmWorks well on my old computer, but i guess some are having problems. I'll chat right here if we have too.
What would be nice is; the Tigers bounce right back and beat up on Boston. Send them a message with JV's arm and the Tigers bats.
that link will be up this afternoon. i may be a bit late for the start of the game, but i'll be there by 5 at the latest. hopefully i'll get home before the game starts tho.
Sorry for being late, but here are the Lineups for ALCS game 3: 1. Jacoby Ellsbury (L) CF 2. Shane Victorino (S) RF 3. Dustin Pedroia (R) 2B 4. David Ortiz (L) DH Lackey 5. Mike Napoli (R) 1B 6. Jarrod Saltalamacchia (S) C 7. Jonny Gomes (R) LF 8. Stephen Drew (L) SS 9. Will Middlebrooks (R) 3B 1. Austin Jackson (R) CF 2. Torii Hunter (R) RF 3. Miguel Cabrera (R) 3B 4. Prince Fielder (L) 1B Verlander 5. Victor Martinez (S) DH 6. Jhonny Peralta (R) SS 7. Alex Avila (L) C 8. Omar Infante (R) 2B 9. Andy Dirks (L) LF[/*]
Another 1-0 loss. Verlander gets no help at all. During the regular season, the Detroit Tigers went 8-8 in games in which Verlander allowed two or fewer earned runs. 3 ov JV's last 4 loses were 1-0. Thats really hard to figure. Tigers have to find a way to get the bats going, and more consistantly.
Mister Fister goes tonight for Detroit, I believe he will be facing Jake Peavy. Game is on FOX at 8pm et.
AJ, after going 0-3 with 2 more K's last night, has struck out 18, count them, 18 times in the playoffs. 13 times in the ALDS, wich is a bloody record. Ive read, coach Leyland is sleeping on the idea of playing Don Kelly in center and tweeking with the lineup. He said he doesnt know if thats the answer or not...not alot of other options. My oppinion is to move AJ down to the 9th spot and maybe go with Dirks or Kelly in the leadoff position. What do they have to lose? Oh yeah, the ALCS. BTW...the Cardinals are up 3 games to 1 on the Dodgers. They are something else. They won last night 4-2.
Game 4 ALCS Starting Lineups: 1. Jacoby Ellsbury (L) CF 2. Shane Victorino (S) RF 3. Dustin Pedroia (R) 2B 4. David Ortiz (L) DH Peavey 5. Mike Napoli (R) 1B 6. Daniel Nava (S) LF 7. Jarrod Saltalamacchia (S) C 8. Stephen Drew (L) SS 9. Will Middlebrooks (R) 3B 1. Torii Hunter (R) RF 2. Miguel Cabrera (R) 3B 3. Prince Fielder (L) 1B 4. Victor Martinez (S) DH Twisted Mister Fister 5. Jhonny Peralta (R) LF 6. Alex Avila (L) C 7. Omar Infante (R) 2B 8. Austin Jackson (R) CF 9. Jose Iglesias (R) SS[/*] Check out the linup for the Tigers. Jackson falls to 8th, everybody else moves up one spot. Un-usuall, but the Tigers gotta find something to spark the offense. I hope they can lay off the breaking, off spead stuff and tag the fastball. Must win?
