Attached is the Tigers schedule and results to-date - 7/3/19 - created from https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/teams/DET/detroit-tigers/schedule/ The Tigers overall winning percentage of 0.333 projects a Tigers final record for 2019 of 54-108 (assuming all Tigers games are played). Since 4/25/19 when the Tigers were last 0.500 or better (12-12), the Tigers have gone 15-42. That is a winning percentage of just 0.263. This projects a Tigers final record of 48-114 (assuming all Tigers games are played). That is just a 5 game margin over 2003...
Time for my 'SOAP BOX' moment... And they disguise this garbage under the term of 'rebuild'. The hiring of Trammell as Manager, then Ausmus and now Gardenhire doesn't show me to much in the leadership department not including Leyland who was a genius in comparison. By the way, Leyland was around 200 games over .500 as a Tigers Manager. The passing of Illich was huge to and then the hiring of Avila to run the show was a poor decision on the part of the Tigers org. I didn't like that since day 1. When you look at all the Tigers that were let walk you'd see one heluva great team also. Why is Verlander, JD Martinez, in opposing uniforms? Why are Mendoza hitters batting leadoff and in the 2 hole in the lineup? Not only is the product in Detroit pretty lame, so is the farm system in Toledo... they are really struggling also. Ive always believed in building championship caliber teams from the head down... the Tigers are inept at the top and the trickle down effect reveals the product we are seeing. At this pace the Tigers will go nowhere until changes at the top are administered. Even in the draft the Tigers spent year after year screwing that up. Im discouraged. (lol, as if no one would notice) But, Ive always stood by them and supported them. I still remember the 48 win team and how I watched that mess, but that issue was resolved and the Tigers became relevant again, so im hoping it happens again and sooner than later, but im having my doubts due to the things I see in the org as it stands today. I love them Tigers and hate to see this storied franchise go down the drain. It isn't right, fair or necessary.
