  1. good win this afternoon, elimination number for cleveland down to 4 now.

  2. The only thing I'm concerned with is the Tigers finishing with a better record than the A's. I want them to have home field in the ALDS at the very least. They won't catch the Red Sox. What the Indians and Royals do is inconsequential to me.

Hell of a comeback thus far tonight. I'm glad it only took 8 innings for the Tigers to wake up.

what a comeback is right stlcrtn. Dirks playing strong lately, another solid outing for Porcello and another crap game from AA Bondo. 6 up and of course the damn Indians had to win and keep pace

  6. ok, they've cliched a playoff berth now, but still have a magic number of 1 for the division. need to put this away tonight, dangnabbit.

At this point, the starters for the final two games of the season remain unchanged. Anibal Sanchez is scheduled to start Saturday and Justin Verlander on Sunday. Tonight will be Jose Alvarez in place of Rick Porcello.

Detroit Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski listed among top candidates to replace MLB commissioner Bud Selig. Selig has stated that he will call it quits after the 2014 season. I think it would be cool to see Mr. D get the gig.

  16. havent been on here in a few. great job all year Will. and congrats to the Tigers. why is Miggy playing? you have to be kidding me. I love Leyland but cmon give the guy a rest. I dont give a crap what hes getting paid or what HE wants to do. he needs to be as close to 100% as possible. terrible decision. theres an 8-10 day possible resting time for him yet he keeps throwing him out there. let Oakland have home field, it means nothing to me if I know I have a 80 or 90% Miggy as opposed to a 60% Miggy. I dont get it

RIP Gates, he was a class act and a Tiger through and through

  17. I was too young to remember too much from Brown but Gary Sheffield reminded me of him in that he always gave it his all and very rarely does a batter intimidate pitchers but he could. Brown wasnt the biggest guy like Sheff but they got in pitchers heads and would make em pay. I can tell you from personal experience that the tables are almost always tipped in the pitchers favor but there were a couple guys I didnt like pitching against and it made things very difficult

  18. gates was the forerunner of the DH. with kaline, horton, stanley and northrup, he couldn't crack the lineup - but he was a great pinch hitter, and an outgoing, really likeable guy.

    RIP gator
