Max (14-1) and the Tigers win 7-3. Cleveland lost to Seattle 2-1, thanks Mariners. Miguel Cabrera leaves with a sore hip flexor and is listed as day to day. Tigers up by 2 1/2.
Porcello back from his 5 game suspension goes tonight against Hector Santiago. Or should I say Rick 'the bean baller' Porcello.
Nice pitching by Rick Porcello and the Tigers win 6-2. JP with the long ball and it was fun watching Perez round the bases becuase Viciedo couldnt find the handle. Cleveland lost to Seattle again, Tigers 11 over and up by 3 1/2.
Chicago has made seven errors in two games already this series, and eight of the Tigers' 13 runs have been unearned. "You just can't play like that and expect to be in the game," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "You give them that many opportunities and you're going to pay for it." Without Cabrera, Victor Martinez and Jhonny Peralta stayed hot to pace the offense. Martinez, now hitting .415 this month, had a double and scored a run, while Peralta went 2-for-4 with a homer to left that measured 382 feet. John Danks vs. Anibal Sanchez tonight.
Jair Jurrjens is back in the Tigers organization. The right-hander, who last pitched for the Orioles this season, was signed to a Minors contract on Wednesday and will report to Triple-A Toledo on Friday.
lol...not yet. Prince with a 1st inning, 3 run blast. Tigers off to a good start. Thats 5 straight games the Tigers have scored first.
Prince Fielder, Austin Jackson and Torii Hunter homered, and Anibal Sanchez pitched six scoreless innings to help the Tigers overcome Cabrera's latest absence in a 6-2 win over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night. Tigers are now 12 over at 56-44. Today, Verlander goes against Peavy at 2:10. Sure hope JV brings the good stuff and the Tigers can complete the sweep (fingers crossed).
Miguel Cabrera out of the lineup again today. Says he's shooting for tomorrow to return. Lets hope so.
does anyone run more hot and cold than this guy. 3 bombs - wow, and then he'll vanish for a week. this guy has soooo much potential and as a fan its frustrating to see him not put it all together. I like Prince a lot, but man he strands a lot of runners. hes a beast when hes focused though. very very glad to see my favorite Tiger VMart start putting it together, hes a great guy and I know the locker room is better with him in there. class act and very hard worker. keep it up Victor!!
He's been swinging a hot bat for a while now. He hit his 9th HR today also. Pena and Hunter hit HR's, but it wasnt enough as the White Sox beat Detroit 7-4. Verlander looked shaky again. He hit 99mph on the gun on 2 consecutive pitches, but his secondary stuff is a problem right now. I have confidence, he will straighten things out soon, to much talent not to. His fastball is still smokin', though.
He will be OK. Love having his bat behind Miggy. If Victors bat stays hot, Prince is going to get more stuff to hit, I would think. He does seem to be pressing a bit though.
Its on catfish! The Tigers have never defeated the Phillies at Comerica Park, as they were swept at home in the teams' lone series in 2002. It'll be up to Doug Fister to change Detroit's fortunes when he starts opposite Cole Hamels on Friday. I hope Cabrera is back in the lineup tonight, but its probably not a good idea to rush things at this point in the season. I would love to see that matchup with Cole, though. Tori Hunter left yesterdays game with a sore achillies, he's questionable.
