Tigers take it to the Astros - winning by an 11-0 score. Tigers score 6 of those runs in the bottom of the 1st inning and never look back. Now that is the kind of game I like to see. Too bad that it is such a rare occurrence.

Miggy and McCann each had 4 RBIs. In McCann's case, it was a grand slam.

Win streak at 6 as White Sox come to town

    GAME NOTES
--The Tigers have been the hottest team in the American League, with a six-game winning streak and an 8-2 record in their last 10 games. They've moved within four games of Cleveland in the American League Central and trail Boston and Toronto by 1.5 games in the wild card chase.

--Monday's trade deadline came and went. The Tigers didn't make a move, as general manager Al Avila had predicted.

--With Jordan Zimmermann and Daniel Norris due back soon, Anibal Sanchez may not get many more starts for the Tigers. He's pitching with more than a week of rest. Last time out, he threw six innings and allowed four runs against these same White Sox.

--James Shields got off to a terrible start for the White Sox but has been better lately. He's 1-2 with a 1.25 ERA in his past three starts. That includes a 2-1 loss to the Tigers on July 21.

--Miguel Cabrera is back on track for the Tigers. He's hitting .421 with four homers and nine RBIs in his past five games.

--The Tigers are 6-4 against the White Sox so far this season, including a 3-0 mark at Comerica Park. (Mlive)

DETROIT -- The Tigers stretched their season-high winning streak to seven games by stretching out one extra-base hit after another against the White Sox. Triples from Andrew Romine and Cameron Maybin fueled a six-run fifth inning before Miguel Cabrera's two-run homer put away an 11-5 victory Tuesday night at Comerica Park.

The win, combined with an Indians loss to the Twins, moved the Tigers within three games of the Tribe in the American League Central. Detroit moved 10 games over .500 for the first time since the end of the 2014 season.

Cabrera's third home run in two games was an opposite-field loft off Matt Albers for his 24th homer of the season, six more than last year and one shy of his 2014 total. He went 3-for-5. Victor Martinez added his 18th homer of the season with an eighth-inning solo shot.
