i feel very bad for the true fans of this team (i can't call myself one, because baseball will never stir a passion in me like it once did). shame on tigers management. this is all on them.
Well Lulz, I do consider myself a life long true fan of the Tigers. This move makes sense on one hand and doesnt on the other. The front office and the Manager and some tough luck all have contributed to this demise. I sat through an entire season and flew the Tigers flag and wore the Tigers colors when they won 48 ball games back in the day. This season really sucks do to the high expectations and the fast start by the Tigers. They actually started the season 11-2, but now all the wheels have fallen off the wagon at the same time. Your point is well taken... I have a difficult time in pointing fingers and there seems to be enough blame to go around the entire system, but dammitt, im behind them still, as always im Mr. High Hopes, the ultimate optimist. Well hell, they are only 4 games out of the Wild Card. _____________ See you later David Price and thanks. Tigers will not be able to replace a pitcher like him... it truly a shame.
I blame management for some things like not addressing the bullpen and trading Rob Ray, but the rest is on the players. this team was gonna be weak in the pitching dept as far as I was concerned when the season started. I said all along that Simon is not a starter and Greene will take time. I also said Gorzellany would be a great addition and he blew. this team has enough firepower to have made this team a contender and they wet the bed. the Jays are a great example of what offense can do to a team. Price will make them legit and it pains me to see him go but it was the right move. Dombrowski got a solid return and Ill assume that was his best offer but I had my eyes on a couple guys that were cant miss prospects and for a top 3 power lefty I think we couldve got more. Dodgers were dangling Urias and thats where I wouldve went. Hes still young but hes got excellent movement on all his pitches and although hes small in stature he has yet to grow into his body at 18. he was also a lefty and he throws sidearm which is very rare for a guy who can hit mid 90's at that age. lot to process here and its only just begun, the Tigers made the right move here - bottom line and Dombrowski knows pitchers and has a very keen eye for young talent
although its been only a short time, I made a point to watch you pitch David and thanks for what you did here. wish you all the best and for the first time in my life, I may actually make a point to try and watch a Jays game

And Soria is gone... Relief pitcher Jose Valdez will be promoted from Toledo prior to the game tomorrow to take Soria's place.
Tigers win a thriller, 9-8. Well sorta thrilling. They were up 7-0 and nearly got caught by the Birds.
Dombroski so far gets a C for his returns on Price and Soria. I wouldve went Urias from the Dodgers and getting Jones for Soria doesnt cut it considering they gave up two really good prospects in big Jake Thompson and Cory Knebel to get him. Jones has good power but he was very upset when the other Tigers(LSU) took him out of his natural position at short. about the only think we didnt need was a SS. he can be moved but hes not gonna like it, didnt care much for this one. no reason you cant get a guy thats ranked no higher than the 12-15 prospects in an organization for a really good closer

Agree pretty much with everything you've said. I see him as a 3B. He has the natural pop off his bat but his defense is very suspect.
I actually really like what they got for Cespedes. The Fullmer kid seems pretty legit. However, he is perfectly positioned to be around a year/year and a half away which is fine. They acquired to starters for next year from the Price trade to go with Sanchez, JV, and whoever they try and get in the winter.
I did not even hear about the Cespedes trade. That takes care of the big free agents on the Tigers. BALTIMORE -- Once the Detroit Tigers decided to retool for next season, they needed to trade Yoenis Cespedes. News broke just before the 4 p.m. trade deadline that they had done just that. The Tigers traded Cespedes to the New York Mets, and will receive right-handed pitching prospects Michael Fulmer and Luis Cessa in return. Both Fulmer and Cessa have been starters throughout their minor-league careers. Fulmer, 22, was a first-round pick of the Mets in the 2011 draft. He is listed at 6 feet, 3 inches tall and 200 pounds and was ranked as the team's seventh-best prospect by MLB Pipeline. Fulmer is 6-2 with a 2.03 ERA in 16 games this season, including 15 at Double-A Binghamton. Cessa, 23, is 7-7 with a 3.98 ERA in 18 games at the Double-A and Triple-A level this season. He's listed by MLB Pipeline as the team's 16th-best prospect. The Tigers have now traded their top three potential free agents in David Price, Cespedes and Joakim Soria. (mlive)
wait no one wanted Avila? *ROFL* I am suprised no one wanted Davis, hes one of the fastest guys in the league and every team could use a solid hitting speedster like that. I really thought a National League team wouldve made a move for him, hes ideal for the NL. when I have some more time Ill try and break down these moves. Im familiar with all the guys we got except Cessa
Please do; I dont know squat about them, just heard brief tidbits that their good. They said that about a lot of players before tho. Sounds like they really went after pitching. ___________________________________________ ____________________________________ Here's something to ponder... what if we were watching Nick Castellanos turn into another JD Martinez? How cool would that be?
Tigers have a night game - Here's a preview from MLive.com. (AP) -- Gerardo Parra arrived too late to make his debut for Baltimore and was only a witness to a stirring comeback victory. The newly acquired outfielder could get his first opportunity to play for the Orioles and attempt to extend his 14-game hit streak Saturday night against the Detroit Tigers. Parra, acquired from Milwaukee on Friday, made his first appearance in the Baltimore dugout in the second inning and watched Baltimore (52-50) erase a six-run deficit for an 8-7 victory. Manny Machado provided a go-ahead, a two-run homer in the sixth, and Adam Jones went 3 for 5 with a three-run shot in the fifth for the Orioles' sixth win in seven games. Baltimore nearly rallied from a seven-run deficit in Thursday's opener, a 9-8 loss, and will try to get a quick jump on the Tigers (50-53) with help from its newest player. Parra was fourth in the NL with a .328 average, and had nine homers and 24 doubles. He's 23 for 50 (.460) during his streak - tied with teammate J.J. Hardy's for the longest in the majors - and has batted .390 in 43 games dating back to June 11. Parra is also a two-time Gold Glove-winning outfielder. "I've always been a fan of his," manager Buck Showalter said. "The guy won a Gold Glove in left and right and is having a big year offensively. Plays the game like our fans like to see it played. He's really likes winning, so he should fit in well." Parra is also 8 for 14 with two doubles lifetime against Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez (10-8, 4.61 ERA), who had a career high-tying string of seven consecutive victories and a four-start win streak snapped Monday. Sanchez gave up three runs in 5 1-3 innings in a 5-2 loss in Tampa Bay while getting zero runs of support. The right-hander received 56 runs in his prior eight games, including a 7-3 win over Baltimore on July 17. He won't have Yoenis Cespedes to help him after the Tigers slugger was traded to New York Mets on Friday. Detroit, though, had 16 hits for the second straight game and its first without its second-leading home run hitter and second-best RBI man. "Guys continue to play hard," manager Brad Ausmus said. "Offensively we're fine right now. A week ago we couldn't buy a run. Now we seem to get runs but we can't seem to hold them." Kevin Gausman (1-2, 4.20) will try to power the Orioles to another victory over Detroit while hoping to get better run support. The right-hander has gotten a combined four runs in his five starts this season, going 0-2 with a 4.08 ERA, and couldn't benefit from one of the best performances of his career Monday. Gausman tossed 7 2-3 scoreless innings in a 2-1 victory against Atlanta. Gausman is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in two starts against Detroit and allowed five runs in four innings in his lone matchup last season, a 7-5 loss May 14, 2014. Sanchez yielded two runs in six innings in defeating Baltimore last month and is 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA in three starts against the Orioles.
