theres no reason Kinsler shouldnt be taking more advantages of the pitches hes gonna see before Miggy gets up(Hunter always did), theres no better spot in ANY lineup than that. Ditto for Cespedes, Miggy is almost always on base so teams strategies are simple get through a couple guys and your good. Yoenis has not captilazed on his spot in the order like a true power hitter should. VMart does and this is the crux of the problem with our offense
Good points... I would add also that the pitching staff is minor league lately at best. They have to pitch better and more consistently. Verlander goes in Toledo tonight and if there is no set back, his next start is this week with the Tigers. The offense and the pitching are both broke at the same time... do we blame Brad Ausmus for any of this?
actually Will Im looking at Joyner more than anything. as much as I enjoyed watching 'Wally World' as a player he doesnt have a good track record as a hitting coach. I blame Ausmus for this hire and I would have to think hes second guessing this at this point. When Joyner was with the Padres they stunk and then he went to the Phils as an assistant and they stunk too. a hitting coach should atleast be able to hang his hat on if nothing else a few reclamation projects along the way and Wally as far as Im concerned, has none other than JD Martinez and that was a motivated guy that I think benefited more from the lineup in Detroit than Houston. I questioned his credentials when he was hired and maybe now its time for the team to do the same
I also am starting to look at the coaching in regards to defense, theres no excuse for the some of the brain farts Ive seen the last few weeks and many of them singlehandedly have cost us games. I think Ausmus deserves some blame there also. If you remember I wasnt a fan of him being hired, he had never been a head coach and that worried me. hes not a bad coach I just think his decision making needed more refining in the minors or elsewhere before you give him a gig like this. last year he was kind of like Bryan Murray was to the Wings in the early 90's, a benificiary of a great lineup and this made him look smarter or not as bad as maybe he really is. Unfortunately there is no Scotty Bowman to save us this time
Good assessments, Cutter. Personally i get tired of the running the same guy's out there and getting the same results. You would think after the same people keep getting shelled or not hitting something different could be done. But, on the other hand Brad doesnt have anything all that great in Toledo either. There is just some flat out bad luck involved, i guess. Buck Farmer comes up and gets shelled... send him back to Toledo and he's lights out. This streak better end soon, like tonight, or something drastic may happen. Not quite time to panic, but like you said, its real close.
Brutal losing streak for you guys. It'll turn around soon. But on that note I wait for the day the Indians can be back to .500!
Well, Indians are 6-4 in their last 10 and only 5.5 out, so anything can happen. The Central has the potential to be a 4 team race.
We gotta keep rolling though. That could be asking a lot. We will see though. The last month or so has been really promising!
