ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Detroit Tigers can't score runs. It's been an ongoing issue this season. This time, their problem was exposed on the national stage. Johnny Giavotella's two-run single with two outs broke a 2-2 tie in the eighth inning and helped the Los Angeles Angels hand the Tigers a 4-2 defeat Sunday night. The loss capped a four-game sweep for the Tigers at Angel Stadium, and matched a season-high four-game losing streak for Detroit, which fell to 1-13 in Anaheim since 2012. For the third time in the last four weeks, the Tigers were featured on ESPN's 'Sunday Night Baseball.' And for the third time in the last four weeks, the Tigers were hit with stage fright at the plate with the spotlight shining brightly. David Price did his part for the Tigers, throwing seven sharp innings before running into trouble in the eighth inning. Price issued a leadoff walk to David Freese before giving up a single to Chris Iannetta. Kole Calhoun advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt before Price intentionally walked Grant Green to load the bases. Price got pinch-runner Carlos Perez to pop up for the second out before being lifted in favor of reliever Joba Chamberlain. Chamberlain threw a first-pitch strike before Giavotella sent an 88-mph slider up the gut to score pinch-runner Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Iannetta. Ian Kinsler tracked down Giavotella's grounder, but his throw to Jose Iglesias at second base was late and pulled Iglesias off the bag. With Iglesias sprawled out at second base, Iannetta rounded third and scored uncontested. Huston Street converted his third save of the series and 16th of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth inning. It was the first time the Tigers have been swept in four games on the road since July 2010 against the Rays. It marked the fourth straight quality start for Price, who gave up eight hits in 7 2/3 innings. Price struck out six and walked four batters. But a lack of offense ultimately proved to be the biggest problem again for the Tigers, who managed just five hits off five Angels pitchers. The Tigers had trouble scoring runs all week during their road trip to the West Coast, and won just two of seven road games after managing just 16 total runs. It's been an issue all season. Maybe DD and Ausmus need to make a shake-up move of some sort... any idea's?

this is the tigers chance to get off the shnide. Graveman doesnt belong in the bigs yet, we should be able tog et to him early and often. He throws the usual pitches, 4 seamer, cutter, slider and changeup. he tops out at around 94 but hes more of a groundball pitcher and relies on a cutter that hes developed(and actually throws it pretty good) and a sinking fastball. he was solid in college and although I think he can be a decent pitcher I think hes more of a leader type that maybe belongs in long relief
Tigers mixed up the lineup a little bit... Kinsler hitting 5th. You know Cutter, the way the Tigers have been playing they will make Graveman look like Nolan Ryan or something. I sure hope the hell im wrong. With Perez being shipped out the Tigers called up Josh Wilson from Toledo. Dont look him up... it will not be good for your health.
I know it, this kid will probably throw a 2 hit complete game now that I opened my big mouth very interesting lineup there. wonder how Kinsler will take to that, hes got an ego and to many thats a demotion of sorts. I like him and think hes been great for the Tigers but remember he wasnt exactly a model citizen in Texas, he refused to mentor the young guys or switch positions. curious to see if this gets him going. remember one of my favorite Tigers in Austin Jackson excelled when they took him out of the leadoff spot, Im still not sold on Gose there long term. How good would Torii Hunter look in that #2 spot right about now
More bad news... ___________________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________________ This has got to stop. Way to talented of a bunch to be where they are at.
freakin Graveman, Im not gonna say hes garbage but he needs a lot of polish that game sucked. Miscues in the field, missed opportunities, just really frustrating right now. Its a long season but what really chapped my ass today was my ride home listening to the morons calling into sports radio saying 'I told you these guys arent good', ' I knew the bottom would fall out' - they lost 2 of their 4 best players in the first 2 months in Verlander and VMart. although Im happy about it they also lost their 'ace' closer in Nathan, Avila has been out(although Im as happy as a clam McCann finally got his chance), Iglesias has been down a few times and a couple guys havent hit thier stride in Kinsler and Castellanos. Miggys surgically repaired foot has been bothering him too. Im not making excuses and every team has injuries and the good ones play through them but cmon people its freakin June 3rd for gods sakes. the Tigers have some issues and if they tank Ill be the first to point all of them out but having VMart for protection(and a great switch hitter) not in the lineup is like telling Yzerman to play with one hand. Ill get off this now
unless u had never listened to sports radio before, imo, complaining about the morons calling in is a silly thing to do. were u expecting an on-air mensa meeting instead?

cant believe this team is this thin on the farm to call up Daniel Fields, hes yet to do anything at any level in the minors. his strong point was supposed to be his defense and he missplays one that allowed freakin Vogt to score from first - thats crap!! Id have his bus ticket wating for him in the dugout
