Detroit managed just one run on four hits, and was held without a hit for seven innings before Nick Castellanos broke up Kansas City's no-hit bid with a single in the eighth inning. 4-1 Final, KC.
I knew Kansas City would be tough. I didn't expect the Tigers to appear not to show up. *WALL* Still two games remaining and the Tigers need to win both - if not for standings - at least to avoid questions about disparity between the two clubs.
Tigers were 11-3 against the Central and then hit KC like a brick wall. Time to show up today and play 9 innings. Dont like seeing the Tigers embarrassed like this.

The Tigers really needed the last two games if for nothing else to believe that they can compete with the defending AL Champion Royals. Tigers 0.5 games ahead. Detroit 17-9 Kansas City 16-9 Minnesota 13-12 Cleveland 9-15 Chicago 8-14 Next an off day and then on to Chicago. Go Tigers!
KANSAS CITY -- Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said earlier this week that he hasn't felt the need to monitor the health of Jose Iglesias on a daily basis. But he'll certainly need to keep daily tabs on Iglesias this week after the Tigers shortstop was forced to exit Sunday's game with tightness in his left groin. The Tigers listed Iglesias as day to day, and Iglesias said he was optimistic he'll be able to play in Tuesday night's series opener against the Chicago White Sox. "That's the plan," he said. "Hopefully Tuesday." (Mlive)
