Castellanos with a 2 run home run and its 5-0 Tigers. Tigers have yet to give up an earned run this season.
CLEVELAND -- The Detroit Tigers allowed an earned run. But they still haven't lost a game. Nick Castellanos hit a two-run home run Friday afternoon as part of an 18-hit attack for the Detroit Tigers in an 8-4 win over the Cleveland Indians. Thirteen of the Tigers' hits were against Indians starter Zach McAllister, who left with nobody out in the fifth after surrendering the home run to Castellanos. The Tigers (4-0) allowed just one run -- it was unearned -- in a season-opening, three-game sweep of the Minnesota Twins. They extended their streak of innings without an earned run to 32 before the Indians ended it with three runs in the sixth inning. The Indians closed the gap to 5-3 in the sixth, but Al Alburquerque entered the game and got a key double play to kill Cleveland's rally. Four players had three hits each for the Tigers: Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez, Yoenis Cespedes and Jose Iglesias Alfredo Simon got the pitching victory for Detroit in his regular season debut with the team. The game was the home opener for the Indians. Tigers' highlights ? The Tigers rallied for a run in the second inning thanks to a botched play in left field by the Indians. The Tigers had one on and two out when Iglesias lifted a fly ball to shallow left. Shortstop Jose Ramirez waved off left fielder Michael Brantley, but the ball glanced off the glove of Ramirez, hit Brantley and fell to the ground. Instead of the final out of the inning, Iglesias had what was somehow ruled a single. With the Tigers still alive in the inning, Anthony Gose then singled to right field to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. ? The Tigers shifted against Brandon Moss with one out and a runner on first in the second inning and Moss hit right into it, allowing the Tigers to turn a 5-6-3 double play. ? The Tigers scored a run on their 10th and 11th hit -- and 10th and 11th single -- of the game. With two on and two out in the fourth, Miguel Cabrera singled to center to score Alex Avila from third base. Martinez then beat the shift with a single through the left side of the infield to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead. ? The Tigers got their first extra-base hit when Cespedes doubled to lead off the fifth. Castellanos followed with a line drive with the wind and into the seats in right field for a 5-0 lead for the Tigers. ? Alburquerque entered the game with two on and one out during an Indians rally in the sixth inning and got Yan Gomes to ground into an inning-ending double play. The Tigers tacked on three runs in the next half inning to rebuild their lead. ? Cespedes scored in the top of the seventh when Iglesias reached on a two-out infield single off pitcher Mark Rzepczynski to make it 6-3. Anthony Gose then followed with a dribbler in front of the mound, but Rzepczynski threw it a mile over the head of first baseman Carlos Santana. Iglesias scored from first base as the ball went all the way to the corner in right field. Gose ended up on third on the play, then scored when Ian Kinsler tripled to right field. That made it 8-3. Will, the Tigers are indeed off to an absolutely fantastic start. By the way, looking at all the posts on this page, do you ever feel "alone" on this site?
I wonder sometimes where all the fans are. I love the Tigers and from time to time there is decent traffic here. I wish it would pick up tho. I try to catch every game of my favorite teams and its always more fun to share them with someone. But what the hell, it is what it is.
In my defense, I am always checking up on the Tigers board. Granted I don't always post, but the work you put in is definitely appreciated.
Thanks man. I hope i didnt come across as blaming others or whiny... im just having some fun and appreciate all the posters on this site. The conversation makes it fun. Sometimes, i have too much time on my hands and i gotta do something to keep from going any crazier. Messing around here is fun and i enjoy doing it. Thanks again... thanks to everyone.
By the way... VMart messed his left leg up a little and removed himself from the game. Its not supposed to be serious and is being called day-to-day. He wont play at all in the next series anyway because of it being a National League team, there's no need for a DH.

i will post occasionally here, but baseball is down the list of my favorite sports. once the stanley cup playoffs are over, i'll post more, as we then enter the "everything sucks" period between the awarding of the cup and the start of football season, relieved only (slightly) by wimbledon and yes, top marks to will for what he does here
