    Nationals 9, Tigers 2: Alex Avila exits with back soreness; David Price comes unglued in second start

    OK, i dont get it. Why would Ausmus even have the thought of Avila batting second. He is no table setter anf has never hit for average... I think Ausmus has been in the Florida sun too long.

  8. maybe modern baseball wisdom says strikeouts are more useful near the top of the order? :[

    Here's good news...

    By George Sipple, Detroit Free Press;

    LAKELAND, Fla. ? Victor Martinez ran sprints on the field Thursday for the first time since suffering an injured knee during an off-season workout.

    "Victor ran agilities today," Tigers trainer Kevin Rand said. "He ran some straight-ahead sprints. He did well. We're just working him on a program to get him to where he's ready to run bases.

    "He ran (on the antigravity treadmill) yesterday. We'll still use that. We'll still use that as a recovery tool, too. I ran him on that yesterday with the brace. I wanted him to really build up a good sweat with the brace and see how he handled that, and he did very well."

    When will he run the bases?

    "As soon as we feel he's ready," Rand said.

    Marinez said Thursday morning, before he ran, that he was glad to be working again with his teammates.

    "Pretty much I started doing a new workout for the knee," he said. "We started this week, putting a little more weight (on it)."

  16. Ive officially had it with Avila, later days and thanks for the memories - Ive seen enough. Joe Nathan you are in the on deck circle, way to give up 2 freakin field goals in less than an inning of work and cost us the game. I feel my ulcer starting to form already and the season hasnt even started

  17. cutter, all i can say is i'm happy i don't care about baseball nearly as much as u do. how anyone could have watched last season and thought "we're all set with our closer for next year" is utterly beyond me. even mr. magoo could see he only excelled at one thing - orally pleasuring livestock.

    Nathan being booed in Florida... lmao!

    What a nut job... Part of me wants to see him do well, part of me wants to see him chased out of Detroit... him and his bigass ego and attitude.

  19. I can promise you Will the fans are in his head. hes thin skinned and cant handle this. No way does this go well for him this year. His stuff is mediocre at best anymore, this was a bad signing by DBRow but I dont blame him for doing it at the time. Nathan has done nothing to make me think this guy can turn it around and he comes across as a total arse. I can tell you I have a hard time getting behind this guy. sensitive pitchers(like Ive said many times) dont do well

  20. Willie Head Coach Manager News & Notes Vikings

    He's in the process right now as we speak of trying to right the ship on some of his comments... mostly what he said in the above article of not caring what the fans think. He screwed up again and this time he know's it.
