From Mathew B. Mowery, Oakland Press. Tigers tell Torii Hunter they won't pursue his return The Tigers let Torii Hunter know Friday morning that they wouldn't be pursuing his return to the club. Re-signing Victor Martinez for four years precluded the return of Hunter, whose two-year contract expired at the end of the season. Hunter's agent told Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski that the 39-year-old outfielder did indeed want to play, maybe as long as two more years, and that Detroit was his preferred destination. But with the addition of Anthony Gose in the outfield, moving Rajai Davis back to a corner, the Tigers did not have regular at-bats to give to Hunter.
this sucks^^^^. If you want to give it another go (which you obviously do when you sign a 35 yr old to a 4 yr deal) then why not bring him back. I rarely question DBrow but Im sorry Gose is not the answer to anything, in fact letting our #1 prospect go for a middling CF who probably fits better as a NL bench player makes no sense. I didnt question him on the Robbie Ray for Fister thing and that turned out horrible. I think letting Hunter walk and bringing in the outfield version of Romine was a very questionable move did I break the record for using the word question in one post?
this shouldnt come as a suprise whatsoever but I keep reading how the Yanks have been in touch w Boras about Scherzer. They arent happy with Tanaka as a #1(although hes pretty damn good) and CC's health is always an issue anymore and even when healthy hes shaky. Also keep an eye on the big spending Angels. Things have been suprisingly quiet on the FA front but I expect something to unravel soon. Cubs are also very interested in Max but I dont know how interested hed be going to that mess
Big time huge mistake if the Tigers dont give in and pick him up at least for 1 more year. I think they can work something out. I know Max wants a multi-year deal and now's the time to get one, but the window in Detroit still looks very promising with Max on the Tigers. I have no idea how the Tigers could even dream of another consistent winner to replace Max. Max will cost a bundle, Illitch know's that and 20 game winners dont just fall from the sky. Might as well fork out the cash and keep him around for a while, imo. I think if Scherzer is allowed to fly away, the window shuts. I just cant see where the Tigers are going to get 18 to 22 wins any other way. A lot of people think that having Scherzer around any longer is a big mistake. I wish those folks would give me a good reason why. It cant be the money. lol. If Mr. I dont care, why do so many concern themselves? I think Max is a key component... gotta find a way to keep him around.
lets not forget Will that Price is no slouch, outside of Kershaw and maybe Chris Sale hes the best power lefty, he pitches a heavy workload and I can see him getting 17-18 no prob here. but the 4 and 5 spots are shaky. lets hope the Lobster is the real deal and Porcello can pitch like he did in the first half, his second half left a lot to be desired. When his contract is up I let him walk, pillow tossers with erratic command do nothing for me. I do like Lobstiens upside though, and hes a lefty. He doesnt throw hard but is pretty damn accurate - works for me
haha, yes i will. mike's pizza is not that bad. don't have a lot of choices here, not like i can grab a buddy's or shields whenever i want to. kept hearing "life is short, eat better pizza - let's get jet's!" i thought ok, i know where one of those is, wtf. that was the last time i went there - because it wasn't better, it was worse. i'm back to mr. i's now. i'd happily kill several people (u make a list) to get Dino's back. best chain pizza i've ever eaten, maybe the best pizza period. and ya, i'd take out uncle gary in a heartbeat for that
totally agree, I have a few buds that just love Jets and they always want to get it when were watching the game or whatever. I finally had some and I was like you guys have to be kidding me, I asked them if the box said Tombstone on it. Just awful. Green Lantern needs to be on your list too Lulz, excellent pizza. I know its not by you but theres one on like 19 and Hayes in Clinton Twp and theres one I think in Ferndale somewhere, its really good. Ditto on SHields and Buddys *THUMBSUP*
wow, small world. the green lantern you're probably thinking of is at 12 and john r in madison heights. had a friend who delivered for them love their pizza, altho the grease slicks were worthy of guinness - i wonder if they still are.
I was most impressed by the size of the toppings, when I ask for bacon I dont get bacon bits. when I ask for ham I dont get a couple pieces of shaved/burnt ham. Mushrooms, lets just say I was looking for Smurfs underneath them
Im liking the 'Lobster', the 'Crustacean Sensation', but I just dont want to see Scherzer go. I think when it comes to starting pitching and you have a proven winner, you shell out the coin and keep him. The idea of seeing him in pin stripes and the Tigers having to face him instead of dealing him out there every other 5 days isnt a pleasant thought. If Scherzer would have been flat last year then i can see letting him go, but he did well and still gives fits to some of the best hitters around. I still think Mr. I knows the opportunity is now and I think he's really concerned that this is probably his last legit shot at a WS title he will have. I see a guy in his situation making some sort of crazy deal. If Scherzer goes, the Tigers are still a good pitching club as far as starters go. I just think the need to be all they can be and that would include Scherzer, even if it cost's other positional troubles. Im real curious to see how this unfolds. ======================================================================================= Another concern is the Bullpen. Im already hearing the are going to give Hanrahan another shot and that the Tigers wont be spending big buck's on an arm there. That is real trouble if you ask me. I dont understand whats going on, but the Tigers really need to spend if their going to win. I dont see how that Bully is going to be championship caliber. Hope they prove me wrong.
