DETROIT ? Kyle Lobstein was the stopper and Miguel Cabrera the big bopper for the Detroit Tigers Sunday night.

They teamed up to give the Tigers a much-needed 6-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants at Comerica Park.

Lobstein, making just his third major league start, gave the Tigers just what they needed, scattering four hits over 5 2/3 innings for his first win.

Cabrera continued his torrid pace with his fifth home run in September and also singled in a run. He reached the 100 RBI mark for the 11th consecutive season.

The Tigers avoided being swept in the interleague series and remain two games behind the A.L. Central-leading Kansas City Royals, who are in town for a three-game series beginning Monday (4 p.m.).
