lol, the funniest part is that you weren't the only one bob. wonder who it was?...kind of feel like I'm in middle school again.
It wasn't me, but I thought about it. Did I ever mention that I do not like the hockey team from Boston?
lol, hmmmmm, I've heard rumors about that Dan. one day i hope to get the word BRUINS out of you. one day. I'm not holding my breathe though.
Ansar Khan, mlive... I like the attitude, and hearing this from the captain is important. Everyone must get on that page, imo.
Stephen Weiss will be skating for the Plymouth Whalers in the OHL as part of his comeback rehabbing. He expects to resume play with the Red Wings by their first game after the Olympic break on February 26th.
Beanpot winner here from BC Capt. Patrick Brown, son of Doug Brown and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan native. Kid was a walk on and has progressed so much every year, to think of him as a future captain or possible pro player would've been crazy when he showed up 4 years ago. Hard not to respect his game, A Dustin Brown type minus the cheap crap. He's a pending FA and Ive heard that there is mutual interest between the Wings and Brown. Id think that he would need a good 2+ years in the minors but this kid has gotten so much better every year and he works so hard on the ice every shift, Id love the Bruins to snatch him up. Here's his Beanpot winner and nail in the coffin goal last night.
i was thinking that he would be a great fit, even took him in the fantasy draft. the real test starts after they get back from Sochi, playoffs start in Detroit....love how Zetterberg said that.
Sell Dekeyser, Sell Kindl, get anything for Helm, Quincey, Eaves, and Lashoff you can. Shop Anderson and Mrazek. Bring up the kid and go to "full suck". Still lots of time to pick up a bunch of pieces to get back in the game next year. I said Dekeyser because he lands quality pieces in return. Smith isn't worth enough and Detroit has plenty of good skating, non physical, lefty shot, pmd (matty's favorite type) type dmen clogging up the system. He's fairly developed and Kenny's utilization is going to make it challenging to keep him around long term. He'll probably get a bridge now, but he's on track to get a contract he probably won't live up to after that since he's logging so many minutes. Cash him in now while he has lots of cost controlled years.
your not getting anything for any of them. we'll have in upwards of 16 mill freed up after this year with Quincey, Cleary, Sammy and Bert off the books. If Kenny really wants to sell or make a move he should put Dats on the block and try and get a good yound defenseman and maybe a 1st. Helm I wouldnt move and the rest are crap. No way in hell do I move DeKeyser *NO*
He's redundant, talented, and cost controlled. Who else can you move that is going to get a solid top 9/top 4 player in return? I suspect Detroit is going to be doing the WPG shuffle (treading water for years) while they wait for the roster to mature while Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Kronwall whittle away . Nyquist looks to be a top 9 for a long time. Tatar is too much of a gamble in either direction to walk away from without a high-end trade offer (that I wouldn't suspect is coming in the next 10 months). Ericsson should be kept for continuity, and Kronwall is the only legitimate top pair guy so he stays. Kindl is on an effective contract so he could be packaged in the offseason but I would think keeping him is the best move as well. Smith has too much talent and will be harder to replace and he's at a very low value. I think he's the project worth keeping around. Sproul, and Ouellet aren't going to fetch nearly as much in return right now I would think. The goalie market is going to be very weak I suspect so Howard and Mrazek don't fetch much. That leaves draft picks and Dekeyser and the only player that might land another quality player in return, plus, the market for solid skating dmen with some skill is very strong. Kenny only has 5 top 9s (in my opinion) under contract for next year but he's redundant at the blueline so that's where he should go to land quality help (top9/top 4= quality imo). Otherwise he's plugging rookies/prospects and buying stopgaps for 2 more years. That's going to be much harder to do while putting points in the standings as the injury days for the core are likely to increase the next 2 years.
16 million buys Gonchar, Clarkson (or Clowe), and Alfredsson again next year. Shop DeKeyser Kenny!!!!
