I guess I'm more cynical. Since it's a large urban area, I think it has far more to do with greased palms. I don't blame Ilitch for that, it's the only way things seem to get done. It's a real shame Tommy Boy (Ricketts) hasn't figured out how to get anything done even though he has all the money and all the leverage.

 

detroit has a proud tradition of greasy palms, altho it doesn't go back nearly as far as chicago's.

 

Do Detroit's aldermen/councilmen get busted often in stings?

 

councilmen, and yes. the most notable would be monica conyers, wife of veteran US Representative john conyers. she spent 2+ years in a federal luxury resort errr i mean prison for taking bribes.

he should be a 3 or even 4, but yeah your right the hits are fewer and farther between anymore. Kronwall has to have the worst slapper for a #1. I think I can kick it harder, I can see why he never shoots

 

Thats whats so puzzling to me. He's got the quietest 36 points amongst defenseman, he just doesnt shoot the puck. Only 78 shots on the season, wich is way down the list compared to his defensive peers around the league. But, it could just be the system and adhearing to it. I just wish he would shoot more from the blue while someone gets to the net. I remember him getting quite a few points from out there just a little while back, but he seems to shy away for some reason.

to me, a hard slapshot is an overrated thing. given the choice, i'd much rather have a guy who knows when and where to take a shot than one who just shoots hard. very few NHL goalies are gonna be beat by an unscreened shot from the blue line, no matter how hard it is. of course, when it DOES happen, it's often good for several giggles *JOKINGLY*
