I'm at a loss for words for how bad the Wings are at closing out games. Two goal lead with four minutes left freely given away due to careless play in the defensive zone. I'll have a very sour taste in my mouth if they lose this game, especially if one of those arrogant, classless prima donnas (Getzlaf or Perry) scores the game winner.
Can you ask that 15-year-old on CBS if it was Jimmy's fault that Smith put it in his own net after it hit the post? Or that Fil made a perfect pass to Etem for the second goal? Or that the ref swallowed his whistle when Perry tripped Quincey behind the net leaving Bobby Ryan wide open in front for the third? I'm sure it's all on Jimmy somehow. I rarely say this about a team but I hate the Ducks. There is nothing likable about them. Datsyuk gets tripped blatantly in the neutral zone and Getzlaf throws a hissy fit whle Perry takes a few whacks at his ankles. Did they really think Datsyuk would dive or go down easy to draw a call in that spot? Does Datsyuk have a history of diving that I don't know about? It's an egregious breach of stupidity to see it that way. Those guys are the dynamic duo of suck in this league: good players with horrible attitudes.
WAy to go Wings, the Captain comes up big. Ill admit I didnt think this series would go this far, had my doubts. very strange series lots of ebbs and flows and hard to get a feel for where the series is going from game to game. our defense better be addressed in the offseason, they wont go far with that backend but as long as Howie continues to do well you never know. Ill also say I was one of the people that didnt necessarily care if Howie came back but hes really stepped up his game and deserves a lot of credit for the Wings even getting this far. his numbers dont show how many times this porous defense has left him out to dry. my attitude on Fill has changed too he sucked all year and hasnt done shit all playoffs - bye
Filppula and Cleary are as good as gone -- or at least should be. It's hard to predict Ken Holland these days. Brad Boyes, Tyler Bozak, Derek Roy and Nathan Horton should all be on his radar this summer.
Agreed mo but all of them are very injury prone. If hollan has a brain cell in his head he'll think twice about signIng them. Out of them only horton and boyes would i even consider. The three mOves hes made in the last 3 years have all been for injury prone retreads-ill pass
Maybe not but hes the only one of those goin into the offseason with an injury. And a shoulder one at that, frm a hard check into the boards. Those cam be tricky and some Players are never the same. is that someone you really want to take a chance on
again, i wanna say how proud i am of this wings team. win or lose tonight, they have far exceeded expectations this season. now they need to play nearly flawless hockey to extend the season. there are many things i could say in criticism of the ducks, but i'll be shocked if they don't dial it up tonight to the next level. the wings need to be focused from the drop of the puck, and they can win this thing and advance. pasha and sasha have a history of playing well in game 7s, and jimmy's .937 save % in 2 of them is nothing to sneeze at. hope all u early risers can stay up for this one, and hope the wings make u happy u did
YES SIR !!! The Wings pulled it off.... Wow. After that puck hit Ericsson and went in I started thinking oh oh, we're in trouble. Seriously though, the Wings deserved to win this series. All I wanted from this year's playoffs was a Hawks Wings series and I get my wish. Win or lose it's going to be some great hockey just as we saw in 3 of the 4 games they played against each other this season. Tough series for the Wings to win but I'm excited about it regardless of what their chances are of pulling off the upset.
