You make a great point. I didnt see the game, but looked it up...Wings gave up 37 SOG, and thats a lotta shots. Hopefuly they turn that around Tuesday.

Ive said it for two years and not to toot my own horn but how did the defense not seem like a glaring need in the offseason. its reared its ugly head ten fold this year and that wont change. kronwall is not a #1, Ericsson #2 - are you serious? Quincey shoudnt even be in the league and Lashoff has ECHL written all over him. Howie has to work so hard just to keep this team in the game because hes continually left out to dry. this wont fly come playoff time, never has - never will

He's been grabbing a number of veteran centers for a few years now including hoping to find top 4 help in White, Quincey, Coloaiacovo, and Dekeyser. Missed on Suter too. I'm pretty sure everybody knows that Kenny has wanted some dmen for a few years. Unfortunately, so do about 20 other teams.

For some reason the Red Wings cant play 3 periods of hockey. They blew another 3rd period lead, their 6th time this season, and lost 3-2 in a shootout to the Panthers. Wings 6 loses when going into the 3rd with the lead leads the NHL. Used to be when the Wings went into the 3rd with the lead, it was lights out for the other team. What is going on?

Poor Jimmy Howard is 1-4-5 in his last 10. Ugh!

This is very interesting to me. It seemed most of the past 3 seasons they were far more interested in starting really slow and picking it up, now it's the opposite just about everytime I watch them.

 

I'll still take the good start early over playing catchup. If the talent is there (and healthy) I would rather take a chance at fixing the finish rather than the start. Easier to dictate pace, matchups, and to get the last adjustment with good starts imo.

 

I agree with you. Its probably better to hang on late in a game than have to constantly fight back, like we were used to seeing the past couple seasons. It wasnt to long ago when the Wings were deadly going into the 3rd period with the lead, now, I dont know whats going on. I do believe this funk will pass, and the Wings will have better results. I think the Wings are something like 2 for 15 in shootout conversions lately, and thats not cutting the mustard either. Their not bad on the road, but struggling like they are at home is 180* turn from what's been the norm.

 

so what was the deal w/ the glass last night? they couldn't take the sticker part off of the replacement glass?

I guess the 2nd pane (first replacement) was damaged and they couldn't get the tape off of it. Certain rules dictate how much time they are allowed to change out the pane.

So now we get to make fun of them for about a decade or at least until the next owner.
