The Red Wings placed Danny Dekeyser on LTIR today do to his seperated shoulder. It will not require surgery. The defenseman is expected to be out 3 to 6 weeks, and will miss a minimum of 10 games. He is not eligable to return to the lineup until December 14th. If the Wings need to call anyone up to replace him it will more than likely be Ouellet or Almquist.

Kindl and Quincey are Detroit's 3rd and 4th dman. This was going to happen even if Ericsson didn't go down and another ugly streak is likely to happen too. There will be a hot streak at some point too because there is talent. Kronwall will be the top target come January when pts are taken more seriously.

They gotta find a way to dig down deep and work with what they got, or it will be down the tubes more often than not. One thing about this streak, the Wings have been in every game. They have been very close battles, they just havnt found the kill switch yet. Thank goodness they have been getting points for losses too, or they would really be slipping away. So far, they have been very fortunate that no one is really streaking in the other direction.

More production from Kronner is a must, he looked hesitant last night to even shoot the puck. At the Wings practice today, they split up Datsyuk and Zetterberg. Dats is pairing with Cleary and Bertuzzi, and Z skated with Franzen, no one played on the right side of that line for some reason. Hoping to get healthier soon, maybe. Its an odd first quarter of hockey. The Wings have more road ponts than anyone in the EC so far, thats what has been keeping their heads above water. Quite the opposite of what I expected this season.

    Nyquist is back up.

  8. I like Nyquist back up but this team is very thin on defense even when healthy. only a matter of time before mr brittle Kronwall gets hurt. no help on the farm either. Holland needed to address this the last two years and didnt. this could be an even rougher stretch coming up. DeKeyser is already better than Ericsson and hes a huge loss. atleast we got Smith back. when Kindl and Quincey are your 2nd pairing bad things are gonna happen. theres a reason we have more points than anyone whos actually given up more goals than scored. been like that for weeks and its finally catching up with us in the standings

I didnt see the game and they won. I saw the streak though...must have been my fault. Gustavsson look good in goal?

Glad they got the win. Gotta keep it going.

I know who the happiest Red Wing is right now...Gustav Nyquist. He will be in the lineup Saturday night and for the rest of the season. His big game must have made an impression.

    Was that ConeyDave?
About time Holland quit farting around trying to move contracts out of the way. He's their best chance to stick in the top 6 and he needs all the time he can get on and around the big team imo. I really like watching him play, wish I watched the game.

  15. nyquist should have been in the lineup from day one, but everyone was more focused on tatar. nyquist was one of our best players last year, in the playoffs, against the best in the league.

  16. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

I think Kenny was trying to get something for the junk on the roster. Tatar probably had to stay on the active roster or else he might be a flight risk. I'm with lulz on Nyquist over Tatar, and I'm also Tatar over 5 or 6 forwards as long as he's behind Nyquist. They can hide 2 rookies up front. Is Kenny still carrying 14 forwards?

  17. the last couple of games, they've only dressed 11. that would tend to indicate no.

  18. never mind, apparently we are. nhl.com claims we've got some guy named trevor parkes *SCRATCH*

  19. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Bad question on my part, I should have asked if they have 14 still on the active roster. I didn't see all the reassignments or IR moves.

  20. Willie Head Coach Manager News & Notes Vikings

They might be able to dress as many as 13, but Alfredsson is a scratch and Weiss is on IR. Both Alfredsson and Weiss are scheduled to return Wednesday.
